To me, It's about unrequited love and moving on. This guy is crazy about a girl, and feels like there's a connection, "you make up ridiculous words.. I know just what you mean" but she's a free spirit and sees bigger and better things for her, even though he feels he'd give anything for her. At the same time he realizes she is not good for him, so he acknowledges that it's time to move on, and someday he will find someone who is right for him, and she will find someone who can handle her. He wishes her well. Beautiful song. It reminds me of a relationship I just got out of.
