i agree, the drum solo is really cool
I've been a drummer for about 8 years and i have ot say that most of my drumming sounds like Chad Sexton's, and he is really amazing in this song and ive memorized the solo to the live version on their cd. I thinkthat this song is basically saying that their are so many aspects of science that we dont really notice and yet it runs our life all day long and night. Without science, these songs that we have all come to love wouldn't be here, and 311 says that we sometimes dwell on the science of things but then forget it later. If we dont forget then "the soul of sweet delight on you will shower".....
At my b/f's first concert he met these guys, was astounded by the drum solo during this song. It led him to see 311 as his fav band and somehow he still talks to P-nut.
i just read an interview with sexton and he said that on upcoming tours they are goign to spice up the tribal drum solo even more!!
Last time I saw the drum solo they added a cymbal between each drum...so 2 of the guys were hitting the same cymbal at the same time.
Definitely different...I like the new addition to the solo a lot.
Applied Science..one of my favorite songs, SA kicks it up a notch in this song..They're talking about how good they are as a band, how they do things totally different and they just hide it in there with all the ILL words and similies, you just have to look harder to see it..
Chad Sextons drum solo is beyond words. He is my hero.
I personally don't like the live version and I find the drum parts boring because it's too long. But I like the studio version. I nod my head to this song.
