"It's A Hard Life" as written by and Freddie Mercury....
I don't want my freedom
There's no reason for living with a broken heart

This is a tricky situation
I've only got myself to blame
It's just a simple fact of life
It can happen to any one

You win, you lose
It's a chance you have to take with love
Oh yeah, I fell in love
But now you say it's over and I'm falling apart

Yeah yeah
It's a hard life
To be true lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
When you're in love

I try and mend the broken pieces
Oh, I try to fight back the tears
Oh, they say it's just a state of mind
But it happens to everyone

How it hurts (yeah) deep inside (oh yeah)
When your love has cut you down to size
Life is tough on your own
Now I'm waiting for something to fall from the skies
I'm waiting for love

Yes it's a hard life
Two lovers together
To love and live forever in each others hearts
It's a long hard fight
To learn to care for each other
To trust in one another right from the start
When you're in love

Yes it's a hard life
In a world that's filled with sorrow
There are people searching for love in every way
It's a long hard fight
But I'll always live for tomorrow
I'll look back at myself and say I did it for love (oh)
Yes I did it for love
For love
Oh I did it for love

General CommentIt kinda sounds a like Play the game. When they say "This is your life - don't play hard to get" in Play the Game and then when they say "its a hard life" in this song it sounds very similar.

General CommentThe first time I heard this song was on Greatest Video Hits II, the music video being so over the top and ridiculuos it took me a while to get beyond the operatic setting and costumes, but there is definitely a beautiful song here. The video is almost parodying 'love' and the song seems to be doing the same, there is a lot more going on, but all we focus on is the romanticism of love and almost running our lives around that

General CommentItalian Phaethon hit it right!

Although I have to say, it's actually a Boheiminan Raphody sound alike. Listen to the both. They both have repeated E chords in them.

General CommentI absolutely love this song and Freddie Mercury is one of the greatest songwriters ever!!!
I think the song is about truly believing in love and putting love before everything else. (I know I'm stating the obvious here, but whatever...)

General CommentI agree this song has a certain degree of sadness to it.
Does anyone else enjoy the way he says " This is a tricky situation" ?

General Comment'This is a tricky situation' part is the best bit of the song as well as the 'you win you lose' bit. Like i said before all about the troubles of love.
