I know there is a place
A place where I belong
Not mistreated or undone
And if I find that place
I’ll keep my mouth shut
Cause I won’t be there alone
And if you’re standing there with me
I’ll swear it’s a lie and I’ll still believe it
Cause I came
And I spoke
And you ran
Didn’t even wait to hear the words
Or see the look in my eyes
Cause I bled
And you watched
And I cried myself to sleep
Came to wipe my tears away but you
You couldn’t look in my eyes again
Because of the love for me
I understand the time
It passes so slowly
And I can hear its laughter
But there will come a time
When you will ask me
And I will join you then
And if you’re standing there with me
I’ll swear it’s a lie and I’ll still believe it
Because of the love for me

This is just my interpretation, and it's a fairly superficial reading, so it could be wrong, but...

He's depressed, and trying to find a niche in life where people won't treat him badly. More specifically he's trying to find a place with someone who loves him, hence "I won't be there alone".

He found it before, but didn't recognize it, and tried to kill himself. (Cause I bled. And you watched.) And when he tried to explain, he found out the person who loves him is too scared to be close to him now. But he knows that person will come back eventually, "because of the love for me."

I can probably make this more sensible in the morning.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
