As soon as I get my head around you
I come around catching sparks off you
I get an electric shock from you
This secondhand living just won't do

And the way I feel tonight
I could die and I wouldn't mind
And there's something going on inside
Makes you want to feel

Makes you want to try
Makes you want to blow the stars from the sky
And I can't stand up
I can't cool down

I can't get my head off the ground
As soon as I get my head around you
I come around catching sparks off you
And all I ever got from you

Was all I ever took from you
Yeah, the world could die in pain
And I wouldn't feel no shame
And there's nothing holding me to blame

Makes you want to feel
Makes you want to try
Makes you want to blow the stars from the sky
And I'm taking myself to a dirty part of town

Where all my troubles can't be found
I said yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah
And I'm taking myself to a dirty part of town
Where all my troubles can't be found

Makes you want to feel
Makes you want to try
Makes you want to blow the stars from the sky

General CommentNo comments??? This is a great cover of a JAMC classic... one of the reasons why Trompe Le Monde is one of the strongest final albums around.

General Commenti think this song is about escapism.. via drugs. what else could one get their 'head around' and make them feel this way?

General CommentThis is a good song, so energetic. The video is also very good, very ahead of it's time for 1991 and filmed completely live. The Jesus And Mary Chain saw the Pixies perform this live and said something along the lines of "Man, why didn't we do it like that?"

General CommentI think this is definately about a girl. A girl who is so electric and so full of life that he is charged by her, but secondhand living just won't do...he can't get the chance to show her the real him. He is so intrigued by her that he is like star struck. He feels heavy from her drugs of love and he can't stand up he can't move he can't do anything that he wants to or show her. He is frustrated that he isn't being himself because if he could be she would fall in love with him, but he is so charged from her that he doesn't care for a moment. He flexuates back and forth...so confused. Then he'll take him self to the dirty part of town where no one knows him and there problems are worse than his. Love it!

Lyric Correction"I get an electrick SHOCK from you" should be "I get an electric CHARGE from you", and I count only four "Yeah"s, not five (wow, that sounds petty).

General CommentThe chorus has got to be one of the best in any song ever! So high-velocity, like it is running out of control, like the feelings of the narrator.

General CommentI think it's about a girl. Or at least that is the way I like to think about it.

Except the taking myself to a dirty part of town where all my troubles can't be found. If it's about a girl then I'm unsure about that part.
