Climbing To The Moon Lyrics

So I wrote in a letter
But I don't know if it came
The nurse she likes my writing
So she keeps it just like me
So that it won't get away

I won't be denied this time
'Fore I go out of my mind over matters
Got my foot on the ladder
And I'm climbing up to the room

Got a sky that looks like heaven
Got an earth that looks like shit
And it's getting hard to tell where what I am ends
And what they're making me begins

And I won't be denied this time
'Fore I go out of my mind over matters
Got my foot on the ladder
And I'm climbing up to the moon

Saturday in the yard
They'll bring you by
We'll lay down on the grass
And watch as the sky closes in

And I won't be denied this time
'Fore I go out of my mind over matters
Got my foot on the ladder
And I'm climbing up to the moon

God this is beautiful.

This song is about Elizabeth, E's sister. These are things she was saying when he visited her. It talks about how she tries to send letters, but the nurse isn't letting them go through, how she wants to leave the earth, and how the institution is changing who she is.

Very nice song, E wrote it when he was down. By the way: the album "beautiful freak" is a "fully-down" album, that's why it's so excellent!

I have rarely been so moved by song lyrics as I have by the lines, "Got a sky that looks like heaven, got an earth that looks like shit." Those lines always kinda punch me in the gut. I recall some of the darker periods in my life and standing there... Torn between the two.

Truely beautiful words, truely beautiful work.

This is actually a song that follows another from their first album. I think E meant this to be written from his mother's point of view and how she is slowly dying.

like "Flower", overcoming the sinking depression that surrounds the narrator. at least, trying to overcome it...

A Fully-Down album? Every song is 'blue' as in, not happy?

I wonder why you say 'this song follows another' - because in my version, this is the first song, the track is 15.05 minutes, and at 12.13 a live version of 'My Beloved Monster' starts (why so late?) ... very humoristic by the way, he suddenly changes to the melody of the song to another: " I've got sunshine.. ladiedada (..) My (Girl) .. -> beloved monster" ... (while everyone knows he should sing girl).

I like the song :)

This song has always meant so much to me....when I listen to it and imagine E in hospital where, apparently he wrote it.
