This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version.
Great version of a great song,
Si me quedas tú
Si me quedas tú
Me queda la vida
Pero que me quedes tú y me quede tu abrazo
Y el beso que inventas cada día
Y que me quede aquí después del ocaso
Para siempre tu melancolía

Just A Little Lovin'

I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example:
"'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
Punchline

Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
Midnight
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
this is a cute song. i really liked it. shes practically saying that, to hell with the violence and worries, to television, etc... but , that he stays with her because she needs him and depends on him. hes her life.
I don't know what this song means in English, but I like the beat and the rhythm. Groovy song till the end.
I really want the english words to it! I love it though!
This one of the few songs that I got the jist of without having to find a translation. Pretty and sweet, one of her slower songs that I actually like a lot.
i really dont understand a thing but i just love this song big time!!!!

This song is so great. She is saying that every improtant thing in life to her could just disappear, or stop. All that she needs is him. his hugs and his kisses that he invents everyday. Such a great love song.
I thought some might wnat an english translation... :)
Let the news station channels fall to ruins, Since I don't like television anyway. Let smiles become ancient relics, And let all the rays of sunlight be extinguished.
Let doctrines and obligations be abolished, Let all action movies come to an end, Let pleasures in the world be destroyed, And let today, a last song be written.
But as long as I have you, as long as I have your hug And the kiss you invent every day, And let me keep here after the sunset Forever your melancholy.
Because I (I) do (do) depend on you And if I still have you, I still have life left.
Let all neighbours disappear And let them eat the leftovers of my innocence. Let friends leave one by one And let them kill my piece of conscience.
Let words be consumed on the lips, Let them contaminate all the water on the planet, Or let all philanthropists and wise men resign, And let the last poet die today.
But as long as I have you, as long as I have your hug And the kiss you invent every day, And let me keep here after the sunset Forever your melancholy.
Because I (I) do (do) depend on you And if I still have you, I still have life left.
But as long as I have you, as long as I have your hug And the kiss you invent every day, And let me keep here after the sunset Forever your melancholy.
Because I (I) do (do) depend on you And if I still have you, I still have life left.
This song is very very deep. Shakira is basically saying how everything in the world can go to shit, but the one thing she doesn't want to lose is her lover. I find this song to be so romantic, yet with all the imagery of loss, death, and destruction it makes for such an interesting song. In a way I feel as though there is a definite contrast between the material and subject matter in this song. On one end you have a lovely song with a lovely melody, but the lyrics are just so dark. I love it!
