Katherine the Grateful Lyrics
That they'll want control of you
And hope that but notice
But you know they never do
Slow starts, cold hearts will always be cold
Well they'll always be cold
Sat up, shut out
We know but you're never told
You can be strong
We are not wrong
No one can love you
Like father and I do
We are with you
And hope that but notice
As you walk through hopeless halls
And there are better days waiting for everyone
But cheekbones, good homes
Won't always be there
They won't always be there
Set out to shut up
And you know that you want them to care
You can be strong
We are not wrong
No one can love you
Fathering unto
We are with you
A tower of luck
But you don't know it yet
You can be strong
We are not wrong
No one can love you
Fathering will undo
We are with you

this song is so rad.. i'd even go as far enough to say it is my favorite knapsack song...

Agreed. haha... AND 'cellophane' and 'change is all the rage'...

i think this is a great song! hah my name is katherine! woo hoo! i took the song meaning as..its about a girl who has it all..and shes so strong and great through his eyes..but so..hard hearted..kind of like cocky..and he's saying yea you're a great girl just lighten up and have fun becasue all those material things arent gonna be there one day

this song reminds me of someone who has an eating disorder. I don't think they meant it for that, but thats what it strikes me as.
The first verse strikes me: the girl thinks that people are trying to control her, and she's not willing to give up her control
Second verse: when you are starving, you also freeze.
Ect.

this song is so amazing! i first heard it on a Vans Of The Wall Sampler CD. this song makes me wanna snowboard SOOOOOOOO BAD!!! the guitar is just amazing, if i could only hear one last song before i die, this would be it.
so sad they broke up :( :( :(

i always thought the line was "and no one can love you like father and i do". i always thought it was sung from the perspective of "katherine's" loving older brother as she goes through a tough time with school/life etc. i think it makes more sense that way.
