Give me your hand and I will hold it forever
On my nightstand, in a box with your love letters
I love you dear and I know we will not be parted
I'll keep you near, scattered round my apartment

This is not the same world you live in
And I could breathe easier once I brought you back in
You are not the same girl you have been
I promise I'll never lose you

Give me your hair, just a lock will do
An old photograph to capture the spirit of you
Well I'll keep these things wrapped up in an old cotton blouse
The one you wore that summer before your love petered out

This is not the same world you live in
And I could breathe easier once I brought you back in
You are not the same girl you have been
I promise I'll never lose you

Laid on my bed, a beautiful mess, my whole world, jigsaw girl
You gave me your hand, you gave me your hand
And I don't understand why you don't want it back

This is not the same world you live in
And I could breathe easier once I brought you back in
You are not the same girl you have been
I promise I'll never lose you, never lose you
Oh yeah tell you true I'll never lose you

this one's pretty obvious, eh? he liked a girl, she stopped liking him so he cut her up and put her around his house so she'll be with him forever.

I think you guys are missing something. I think he's actually planning on bringing this girl back to life. That verse about the hair, the photograph and the blouse, I think that's ingredients for some ritual to make her the living dead. "I could breathe easier, once I brought you back again." Hence the title Jigsaw girl, he's going to put her back together after he cut her apart. Hot damn. The Toadies were grandly evil and bizarre.

Absolutely brilliant. I CANNOT believe this whole album didn't catch on better. Blame Interscope records, I guess.

This is my second favorite Toadies song (1st is Tyler), but anyways. This song is very cool, but also kinda sad when you really think about it, because he's never going to actually be with his whole world (his girlfriend) again, the girl herself being dead & cut-up, and there's also this strange lonely/old feeling that makes it sad (probably the way he sings the songs and unusually normal tune). It's very hard for me to explain what I exactly mean...

I hate to double post, but I meant "song" not "songs" on the second-to-the-last sentence on that last comment I made. (For some reason, that typo just throws me off so much).

I think this song is more of she left him, but he is still in love. He is finding little peices of her around the house, things that remind him of being with her. thus the title jigsaw girl. Except now he is obsessed with having her back.. kind of psychotic in a way. Thats just my interpretation(sp)

hmmm, i'm not understanding how the conclusion that she was cut up got reached.

i'm inclined to agree with Destructingbeauty, she left him ("before your love petered out.") and he's holding onto her stuff. --love letters --blouse --lock of hair --photograph

these are the pieces in the ''jigsaw girl" and he puts them together so he can keep her close.

''once i bring you back again" --when they're together again.

they're heavy into the obsession bit, but i'm not seeing anyone getting cut up in the song. simply the fact that he refuses to move on.

seems kinda like its about a couple, and the girl changed, like drug abuse or something of that sort, and the guy couldnt stand it or something and broke it off, but still loved the old her so therefore kept all the pictures n stuff. thats kinda a rough idea

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

When We Were Young

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
