@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday".
I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.
When we younger
There always seemed like
Some perfect mold
That we're supposed to be
But now we're growing up and
I see it's just not that way
Now I feel like someones lied to me
Cause I've been true
Made good for you
And now I feel used
I'm asking you
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be like you
Tell me now elders
What were your reasons for
Making it seem
Like you were so much more
If you want to feel good
Because of our accomplishments
Why the fuck
Don't you just do it yourself
Cause I've tried
Man I've tried
While you all lied
So now just tell me
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be like you
Look at all the families now
Who don't talk and don't trust
Because of the way
That things have been done
When will you finally learn
To leave out the bullshit
And just be straight with us
There always seemed like
Some perfect mold
That we're supposed to be
But now we're growing up and
I see it's just not that way
Now I feel like someones lied to me
Cause I've been true
Made good for you
And now I feel used
I'm asking you
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be like you
Tell me now elders
What were your reasons for
Making it seem
Like you were so much more
If you want to feel good
Because of our accomplishments
Why the fuck
Don't you just do it yourself
Cause I've tried
Man I've tried
While you all lied
So now just tell me
How does it feel
How does it feel
How does it feel
To be like you
Look at all the families now
Who don't talk and don't trust
Because of the way
That things have been done
When will you finally learn
To leave out the bullshit
And just be straight with us

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it.
“I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
this is my favourite offspring song, second to the kids arent alright, its the only song on the first album that stands out amongst the other tracks
This song is so good, really fast paced, easy to get stuck in your head and relate to song (kinda... I've never totally related to it, though I feel like it sometimes). Reminds me of Nitro quite a bit, actually. I LOVE this song.
it's chronologically my favorite offspring song.
I just LOVE this song, it's catchy, you just cant get enough of it, and the lyrics about so-called good morals and adulthood..hmm, bliss.
this song its about all the elders! the world will be better if elders leave out the bullshit And just be straight with us !!!!!!!!! but i think forever they stay like this! LIARS!
don't you just love how the older Offspring songs are more "dark" than their new material? i love it.
This song is about hypocrisy, I think. Sounds like it has a "do as I say, not as I do" mentality that Dex is pointing out to his "elders" Like how parents failed at their own hopes and dreams so they try to live them out in their children's accomplishments...

Everyone in here is just saying how they like the song and not what its about so i will explain what i think.
Its most probably about a kid who was growing up and his parents wanted him to be something they couldnt get and then they can feel good becuase they dont have to do any hard work to get there this line sums it up the best
If you want to feel good Because of our accomplishments Why the fuck Don't you just do it yourself
The kid also did hard work for the parents benifit and the parents lied to him to make him do this. This line kinda shows that aswell.
Cause I've tried Man I've tried While you all lied So now just tell me How does it feel How does it feel How does it feel To be like you
Infact the whole song is really like this. I can intrpret more but i will just feel like im repeating myself. Anyway i think Dexter wrote this becuase i think his parents forced him like REALLY forced him to work hard at school in which he became Valedictorian which his parents never were so his parents can feel good about themselves.
Shit, I've never read the lyrics before, these are AMAZING.
I feel like this song is a warning to parents to be honest with their kids and not just say that they can do ANYTHING if they just try a little bit.
