Yeah, mmm
Yeah

I, I want to be
A cowboy star upon the screen
Yeah and I want to drive
My cowboy car across the scene

Oh and I want to write
The magazines the housewives read, yeah
Oh and I, I want to be
In control of everything
Oh I want to be king, I want to be king

I, I want to make
The toys you buy for Christmas Eve
Yeah and I, I want to be
The father of the ethnic child who stars on TV

And I, I want to write
The magazine the housewives read yeah
Oh read, and oh hey and I
I want all the leaders of the third world to answer to me

I want to be king
I want to be king
So maybe now the Pope will bow and kiss my ring
I want to be king, king, king

I swear to God
I know what I want and what I need
Oh I need yeah
I want to be king
I want to be king, yes I do
I want to be king
I want to be king

General Commentits definately "king" because of the reference to world leaders bowing down and the pope and of course that it rhymes with "kiss my ring".

I've always thought this is about some kind of trojan horse. He wants to become powerful not just out of greed but this robin hood idea of giving something back where it has been taken. The line 'I want to write the magazines the housewifes read' is probably my favourite soundgarden lyric.

I like the start of this song where the voice and the lead guitar are playing the melody together and if you think about how loud and high it is its pretty amazing.

General CommentYou stupid fucking bell ends. He's got an American accent and he's saying "KIIIIIING, KIIIIIIING" Yea? Get it? "I want to be kiiiiiiiiiiiiing" DUH. Talk about fucking blindingly obvious. You can distinctly hear the "Kcc" noise. I mean, you guys can see the lyrics where it clearly says "king" and you can't even make the fucking connection! The next person to comment saying "he says gay" is a stupid cunt.

General CommentI'm quite sure he says near the end of the second stanza "I want to be gay". Some of you may not agree but listen to it carefully and you'll see what I mean.

    General CommentBest off the album!
I also thought Chris was saying "I want to be gay" towards the end of the song. Aw well Chris owns regardless if he's hinting gayness or not.

General CommentLet me clear up this issue: The lyric sheet says king. It clearly sounds like he's saying gay. With king, the song is a passable rocker. With gay, it's also a very funny one that makes people like Supah Dude uncomfortable. Winner: "I want to be gay."
