Welcome to the wonderful world of Destiny's Child
I'm Da Brat-tat-tat, my homeboy Den on the track
And we gon' lay you flat on yo' back
When the beat-boom-boom-pat-pat like that, yaheard me?
We comin' in this game like some survivor's
And we leavin' this game like some survivor's
So from now, until we dead and gone
We gon' be some survivors, ya heard me?
Beyonce, where you at? Uh!

Now that you're outta my life, I'm so much better
You thought that I'd be weak without ya, but I'm stronger
You thought that I'd be broke without ya, but I'm richer
You thought that I'd be sad without ya, I love harder
You thought I wouldn't grow without ya, now I'm wiser!
You thought that I'd be helpless without ya but I'm smarter
You thought that I'd be stressed without ya, but I'm chillin'
You thought I wouldn't sell without ya, sold nine million

I'm a survivor (what), I'm not gon' give up (what)
I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder (what)
I'm a survivor (what), I'm gonna make it (what)
I will survive (what), keep on survivin' (what)

I'm a survivor (what), I'm not gon' give up (what)
I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder (what)
I'm a survivor (what), I'm gonna make it (what)
I will survive (what), keep on survivin' (what)

Wishin' you the best, pray that you are blessed
Much success, no stress, and lots of happiness
(I'm better than that) I'm not gon' blast you on the radio
(I'm better than that) I'm not gon' lie on you and your family, oh
(I'm better than that) I'm not gon' hate on you in the magazines
(I'm better than that) I'm not gon' compromise my Christianity
(I'm better than that) you know I'm not gon' dis you on the internet
'Cause my momma thought me better than that!

I'm a survivor (what), I'm not gon' give up (what)
I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm goin' work harder (what)
I'm a survivor (what), I'm gonna make it (what)
I will survive (what), keep on survivin' (what)

Uh
Now I dun' been through the storm and the rain
Climbed up the rough side and got tough at times
But I remain, if I got the stuff to shine
And pull out the pump, protect mine
Survive in the game, hate on me 'cause you lame
They don't ever see your face or say your name
No more pain for me, no more misery, 'cause you history
I'm a hold on to what I got
Strap on to my perfection, strap on protection
My own direction, born to be the best at what I do
I'ma make it through, stompin' like a soldier in my big black boots
I keep 'em "Jumpin', Jumpin'," stayin' funky, funky for you
No matter who's that man that walk out of your life
You don't need 'em, don't be no heater
Long as I'm still breathin', not leavin' for no reason
Seen them come and go, one switch, they not gold
No house no mo', not even a condo
As long as I know how to love, I'm a stay alive
No need your game or style
They can't tame me 'cause I'm wild, not ashamed of stayin' down
Can the rain sit, and 'em things chromed out, spit
And in my game, no doubt, I'm a get paid in a big way, survivor!

I'm a survivor (what), I'm not gon' give up (what)
I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder (what)
I'm a survivor (what), I'm gonna make it (what)
I will survive (what), keep on survivin' (what)

I'm a survivor (what), I'm not gon' give up (what)
I'm not gon' stop (what), I'm gon' work harder (what)
I'm a survivor (what), I'm gonna make it (what)
I will survive (what), keep on survivin' (what)

This song to me, is about moving on. From a past encounter. Its about getting rid of people in your life. Realising you don't have to rely upon one person to get along. If your strong enough, you can get through whatever life throws at you on your own. A motivational, feminist, feel good song :]

This forum is to talk about the song meaning not to check Destiny's Child. And why'd you come here to get the lyrics if you thoughtt the song horrible. You need to take sometips from the song. "I'm not gonna dis you on the internet". Keep it real, you know you like Destiny's Child.

omg! I can't believe that you guys are totally dissing this song! It's like the best song ever! It's about getting over someone, moving on and proving you can be better without them. This is my song .. because I'm totally better without a man. I wish this song was playing when me and my ex broke up. Really guys .. listen to the lyrics .. actually think about this!

nah it's quite obvious this song has an evil innuendo. it's about the former members of the group who fled when things didn't go their way. They were like "you're nothing without us" i mean half the group left, but they still survived. "I'm not gon blast you on the radio (I'm better than that) I'm not gon lie on you and your family (I'm better than that) I'm not gon hate on you in the magazines ('m better than that) I'm not gon compromise my Christianity" means that everybody now and again ask the neo-destiny's child about the other members, they give a brief and vague answer and change the subject. This is to prevent "dissing" them.

@[Kahiara:35260] Actually I think the husband passed away, "She sang for you last night She heard you were calling" Many people say they have felt, heard, or seen their loved ones after they have passed. "Don't be scared now Close your eyes She holds guard tonight Go on forward no remorse Life will take it's course" This is said to the late husband by a third part (never named), who encourages him to pass on. Because life will eventually continue. The phrase "holds guard" refers to the ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wake_(ceremony) ) which is a Christian ceremony held after someone dies. Now it is usually held right after the funeral, but in most celtiic countries the wake is held before the funeral. "She danced with you last night so you will remember All you have shared, a lifetime." This sentence feels as if the only thing it wants to convey is their history together, namely, husband and wife. For the rest it just refers back to the first verse.

Blank Space
Taylor Swift
This song is Swift's response to the negative reputation the media has given her. "I can make the bad guys good for a weekend" - the bad guys are the paparazzi to Swift, but are good to the "player" since association with Swift immediately gives publicity. Any publicity is good publicity and Swift knows this. "You can tell me when it's over" - the tabloids rumor relationships are over before the couple announces it officially. With this song Swift is portraying the way she is portrayed by the media. It is a sarcastic jab at how she views herself and how her "ex-lovers" only wanted to be with her to increase their fame. I applaud the brilliance in writing about how you always write about relationships. It is expected so Swift is giving the media what they want and profiting off the attention.
