How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
In our diabolical rapture we live on and on
And death keeps knocking at our door
So we open the door and we die a bit more
We're in love with with death and we die on and on
Won't you close our eyes
We'll be by your side
In your heavenly rapture we die on and on
And you keep waiting at our door
Yes, we open the door
Let us die a bit more
Because we're in love with you and we die on and on
Won't you close our eyes, eyes
We'll be by your side.
Your love is the only thing I live for in this world.
Oh how I wait for the day your heart burns
In these heavenly flames I have already scorched in.
I just want you to know I'll always be waiting.
Your love is the only thing I live for in this world.
Oh how I wait for the day your heart burns
In these heavenly flames I have already scorched in.
I just want you to know I'll always be waiting.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Sunglasses at Night

In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.
This songs great if you put it onto left speaker, half way through the song the music goes to one and valos voice goes to the other
you know i have been waiting for the day that they said that HIM cd's are gonna be easyer to get here in this shit place i like to call canada dances a jig any way ~Rock -Robert
if you didnt know linde helped to write this song...he should help some more because i am truely in love with the last verse...to me it sounds like its about being in love with someone and having to suffer (heavenly flames) and how he is waiting to be loved in return
i love that last verse too....this song rocks its so awesome...HIM's old stuff is so much darker and heavier i love it HIM RULES
Well the word Diabolikal is devil related and rapture means out of pleasure, so in our devilish pleasures we live on and and on? possibly something around that area. Valo might be comparing the two because he goes from diabolikal rapture to heavenly rapture. So which do you prefer knockin at deaths door or waiting? Its amazing how indepth this bands music is, wow!
this song is not one of my favorite but is ok. the guitar riffs are much heavier than most of him's songs but after all all the songs of lovesongs 666 are heavier.
I interpret the song, up until the last verse, to be sung by humanity to Death. The last verse is Death's response to humanity.
This is HIM's best song ever....I dont see how they can top it. the last verse has so much emotion.
I agree with rowley completely, how he says turn the right speaker off, it is so much better when u can only hear villes voice instead of the background music, and this song is amazing , him is probly the best band of all time, and f' yall haters
hotsoupwoman: that's how i always interpreted it too.
