Someday Soon Lyrics
Someday soon.
Familiar freaks will
Fill your living room.
Rugs lash out their
Lizard tongues.
You're not getting young.
But you're going to die.
And you're going to be
Needing all of your eyes.
When the cannibals cry.
All by yourself
Inside infancy's lie.
Someday soon.
Television bleeding
Like a harvest moon.
Down the hole.
You're getting old.
You're getting old.
But you're going to die.
And you're going to be
Needing all of your lies.
When the cannibals cry.
All by yourself
Inside infancy's lie.
Someday soon.
Someday soon.
Someday soon.

Interesting to find only one comment on this beatiful tune. Written in a time when the Doors were already beginning to fall apart. The few available live versions (the song was never recorded on an official studio CD) show that the song was still in the development phase. In particular the "And I hate to remind..." part appears to be still pretty rough both musically and lyrically. I still believe that this song would have become one of the best Doors tunes eves had they had the chance to finalize it. As we all know, Jim died before that was possible. It is a petty that they did not try to record this on for L.A. Woman and it would have fit perfectly. For me the whole song is about dying utterly and alone. Jim has a similar poem in one of his poetry books (I think it is 'Paris Journal') in which he says "You die utterly and alone. Someone knew in you knickers". That reminds me of the section in the song that says "Familiar freaks will Fill your living room". A song of pure beauty - still unfinished.
It's song about being happy about death and if you don't think so pick up the doors box set and it will tell it in the booklet that came with it

Creepy song.

The lyrics present a song that makes one ponder the reality of death. It is really is one of the most interesting and deep songs I've ever heard. The musical composition is ultra catchy and is a perfect match for the words. Had a clean version of this been layed down it would have been a soul piercing stunner, although the live version on "Essential Rarities" has a unique raw depth to it .

I've listed to this song so many times, and the actual lyric is "and you're going to be needing all of your LIFE", not "lies" as the lyrics above quote, and not "eyes" as most other lyrics sites claim. Does nobody actually even listen to the lyrics?
