Just Look Up (with Kid Cudi) Lyrics

[Verse 1: Ariana Grande]
We knew no bounds
Fell at the speed of sound
Ridin' against all odds, but soon against ourselves
You haunted every memory
With no goodbyes, all bad for me
Your pride put out the fire in our flames

[Pre-Chorus: Ariana Grande]
Then just one look is all it takes
I feel your eyes, they're locked on every part of me
And then my dumb heart says

[Chorus: Ariana Grande]
Just look up
There is no place to hide
True love doesn't die
It holds on tight and never lets you go
Just look up
You cannot deny the signs
What you've waited for
Don't wait no more
It's right up above you
Just look up

[Verse 2: Kid Cudi & Ariana Grande]
(Baby)
Know I let you down, a nigga can't deny it (Uh-huh)
And there's so much I could lose and, yes, that matters (Yeah)
I've been dealin' with madness (Yo)
Wasn't the man you needed (Hmm)
You dealin' with sadness, truthfully, it's all on me (Hmm)
And I'm sorry, my love
I'ma heal your heart, I'll hold it in my hand (Ooh, ah-ah)
Time is oh so precious, we don't really have much left now (Ooh)
Take my hand, baby, never leave you, Riley

[Verse 3: Ariana Grande]
Look up, what he's really trying to say
Is get your head out of your ass
Listen to the goddamn qualified scientists
We really fucked it up, fucked it up this time
It's so close, I can feel the heat big time
And you can act like everything is alright
But this is probably happening in real time
Celebrate or cry or pray, whatever it takes
To get you through the mess that we made
'Cause tomorrow may never come

[Chorus: Ariana Grande]
Just look up
Turn off that shit Box News
'Cause you're about to die soon everybody
Ooh, I, I, oh, I
Look up
Here it comes
I'm so glad I'm here with you forever
In your arms

Cover art for Just Look Up (with Kid Cudi) lyrics by Ariana Grande

A brilliant inclusion in a magnificent film about how blind we and our culture are to what is important.\nThe dumb lyrics sung by onscreen couple Riley Bina and DJ Chello with its melodramatic music and over-the-top costumes reflect our obsession with image, rather than content. Even the song’s use of ‘shooting’ stars to lend a cosmic romance to the scene makes us laugh because the Earth will soon be smashed into similar smithereens.\n\nThat is partly what the film wants to show us: we are losing the skill of being able to think straight, let alone deeply. We are incapable of knowing art from glossy dross.\nThere are some who take the song’s role in the film seriously, believing “its beauty” reflects the artists’ lead in “teaching” us about our lives and our world. And that again reflects one of the film’s many points: we need a pop singer to convince us of the truth of what science has proven – and to convince us of what is going on in front of our eyes.\n\nBefore that performance, the lovers’ low life relationship dominates the news, taking the public’s attention away from the impending doom.\nThat the pair openly reveal the most sordid details of their relationship to the public demonstrates that dignity takes second place to fame and the need to be in the public eye as a confirmation that you are important.\nThat the public licks up this grot indicates we need something, anything, to fill our vapid existence.\n\nAlong the way trash journalism, greedy corporations, power obsessed politician, and dumb people with their fixation on being on social media, the film denounces our society’s stupidity\nThe song and its performance were hilarious and cringe worthy at the same time. That Ariana wrote some of the lyrics shows she is switched on to the film\'s themes. Also, her singing star performance while keeping a straight face shows she has what it takes.\n\nAs proof, here are some of the lyrics:\n\n"I feel your eyes, they\'re locked on every part of me\nAnd then my dumb heart says\nJust look up\nThere is no place to hide\nTrue love doesn\'t die\nIt holds on tight and never lets you go”\n\nIt even gets better when co-singer Kid Cudi steps up with all the cliché’s of the Rap genre:\n\n“Know I let you down, a n** can\'t deny it (uh-huh)\nAnd there\'s so much I could lose it and, yes, that matters (yeah)\nI\'ve been dealin\' with madness (yo)…\nI\'ma heal your heart, I\'ll hold it in my hand (ooh, yeah)\nTime is oh so precious, we don\'t really have much left now (ooh)”\n\nThen Riley resumes:\n\n“Look up, what he\'s really trying to say\nIs get your head out of your ass\nListen to the gdamn qualified scientists\nWe really f*ed it up, f*** it up this time\nIt\'s so close, I can feel the heat big time\nAnd you can act like everything is alright\nBut this is probably happening in real time”. \nThe use of “probably” – the song’s 2nd longest word – is wonderful, here.\n\nThe simplicity of the lyrics is perfect for the simpletons listening in:\n\n“Just look up\nTurn off that s*** Fox News\n\'Cause you\'re about to die soon everybody\nOoh, I, oh, I\nLook up\nHere it comes…”\n\nThe song and Celine Dion/Whitney Houston-esque performance was funny, but nowhere near as amusing as those online who genuinely want to know if the characters are real and if they are still together. (They can\'t be, Silly. Didn\'t you see that they, and ourselves, were all killed by that comet?)\n\nIt has often been said that the lunacy of much of modern life has killed satire – such real comments prove that it has.
