Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
Teal was the color of your shirt
When you were sixteen at the yogurt shop
You used to work at to make a little money

Time, curious time
Gave me no compasses, gave me no signs
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh

Bad was the blood of the song in the cab
On your first trip to LA
You ate at my favorite spot for dinner
Bold was the waitress on our three year trip
Getting lunch down by the lakes
She said I looked like an American singer

Time, mystical time
Cuttin' me open, then healin' me fine
Were there clues I didn't see?
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh

A string that pulled me
Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar
Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire
Chains around my demons, wool to brave the seasons
One single thread of gold tied me to you

Cold was the steel of my axe to grind
For the boys who broke my heart
Now I send their babies presents
Gold was the color of the leaves
When I showed you around Centennial Park
Hell was the journey but it brought me heaven

Time, wondrous time
Gave me the blues and then purple pink skies
And it's cool, baby, with me
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?
Ooh
Hee
Ooh

(Oh, ooh)
(Oh, ooh)

“invisible string” is a distant song that is hazier with a simple background beat and harmonics from Swift. Swift here sees an invisible thread between her and her partner. Over time, their paths cross again and again. Eventually, this thread becomes entangled. With the words, “Wool to brave the seasons/One single thread of gold/Tied me to you”, this is the invisible thread that shows the unique and valuable connection between them. In the end when paths continue to meet again and again, there is an evitable connection.

The eleventh track of Taylor's new album 'Folklore' was written by Taylor Swift & Aaron Dessner. Produced by Aaron Dessner. It was recorded by Jonathan Low and Aaron Dessner at Long Pond (Hudson Valley, NY). Additional recording by Aaron Dessner at Gaite Lyrique (Paris, FR). Mixed by Jonathan Low at Long Pond (Hudson Valley, NY). Mastered by Randy Merrill at Sterling Sound (New York, NY). The track was released on July 24, 2020.

What the artist means On ‘invisible string’, Taylor begins with alluding to innocent times when she was going, green and in love. She's talking about a past fling or crush and she's crooning over a bare instrumental. She's being so nostalgic here talking about an invisible string, her voice is so pure on this and she sounds like she's missing something. It looks like she's reliving better or worse times, you cannot be quite sure with this blonde superstar. Here she's imploring listeners to listen more than once and devoid of distractions to grasp all the gems in this as she talks about demons and past mistakes. The production of the track is incredible as she thinks about a few boys that broke her hearts but now she's the bigger person and she's sending their babies presents. What a flex! Her crooning voice is one for the ages and she sounds so powerful and in tune with her superpowers on this track.

What the song means to me The song has so many hidden gems, it's basically the epitome of Taylor's growth over the years as an artist. There is a sense of strength and maturity on this track and it sees her transform from a bitter ex-lover to a woman that is in control of her immediate and extended environment. She's no longer bitter, she's positive. She's no longer sad, instead she's quite content. It's so amazing seeing one of your favorites grow before your very eyes and luckily for us we're seeing Taylor Swift do just that. The song makes me feel at ease and pushes me to try and be the bigger man and a better person. I will give this song a rating of 9/10.

I think this song is about how time is so unpredictable and throughout our lives we never know where we are going to end up, with who we might end up with, or how it's going to change us in the end. For instance, she talks about how her (I'm assuming) boyfriend Joe listened to Bad Blood on his first trip to LA and then ate at her favorite spot for dinner. These are little things that at the moment don't seem like much but eventually they become small coincidences to them that further prove why they are connected by some "invisible string". I also like how she mentions that she was pulled from all the wrong arms and into that dive bar. If anyone heard "Delicate" you will see how these two songs are connected.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
