[Verse 1]
19 hitting 20 I'm praying for happy endings
All this air inside my lungs but It feels like I'm suffocating
I hate it, contemplating every love and where I've been
Like how can I settle down when I can't even settle in
And all my homies they don't get it
It's like they never listen
I won't call these ladies bitches just to sell some couple tickets
No, left all my demons but they keep calling back
We're so concerned about our surface
But we're deeper than that
Are you happy if its gold
If you want it is it sold
Tell me what's the value if you're losing your soul
I've been sitting with this girl while I'm thinking about another
If you can't live without her
Then do you tell her that you love her
Finding myself while losing everyone else
I'm on my knees looking for God
Cause I need more than just help
In a world full of pain filled with everyone else
So I've been looking up to heaven while I'm down in my hell
Pursuing a vision and I don't know where to go
The highway to happiness can be the loneliest road
But I'mma get there I know it
I'm the Picasso of words
Put the pen to the pad
Its the realest lyrics you've heard
What's the throne if you don't build it
What's the sky without a ceiling
What's a song without a meaning
What's a heart if you don't feel it
My time is calling got no time for the phone
When I'm feeling out of place I put my mind in the zone

[Chorus]
I got my head on the window
And I'm looking at the rain come down
Don't you love it when it all comes down
Don't you love it when it all comes down
Every star eventually falls down
If I told you that I miss your voice
And everything about you
Would you tell me that you feel the same
Would you believe me if I said I've changed
Would you miss me if it starts to rain

[Verse 2]
My heart aches, my mind state
I'm staying out too late
In need of good hands, where's Allstate
Look
A stronger heart is just the thing that I lack
I go and start up the engine I'm like should I come back
I told my mom I'mma make it and now I'm 2 years late
I'm at a dead end job, a waiter feeling the weight
You know I'm doing what I can
Doesn't mean I'll understand
Cause my heart is calling for a girl
Who's got a better man

[Bridge]
She told me not to fall for her
But I did it anyway
She told me not to wait for her
But I thought of her today
Lately I've been writing things that I shouldn't say
Lately I've been feeling things that I shouldn't feel
But if it isn't on a page, is it even real

[Outro]
I got my head on the window
And I'm looking at the rain come down
And I'm looking at the rain come down
And I'm looking at the rain come down
Every star eventually falls down

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
