"Without Me" as written by and Ashley Frangipane Amy R. Allen....
Found you when your heart was broke
I filled your cup until it overflowed
Took it so far to keep you close (Keep you close)
I was afraid to leave you on your own

I said I'd catch you if you fall
And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all (All)
And then I got you off your knees
Put you right back on your feet
Just so you can take advantage of me

Tell me how's it feel sittin' up there
Feeling so high but too far away to hold me
You know I'm the one who put you up there
Name in the sky
Does it ever get lonely?
Thinking you could live without me
Thinking you could live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (yeah, I don't know why)
Thinking you could live without me
Live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (I don't know why, yeah yeah)

Gave love 'bout a hundred tries (hundred tries)
Just running from the demons in your mind
Then I took yours and made 'em mine (made 'em mine)
I didn't notice 'cause my love was blind

Said I'd catch you if you fall (fall)
And if they laugh, then fuck 'em all (all)
And then I got you off your knees
Put you right back on your feet
Just so you can take advantage of me

Tell me how's it feel sittin' up there
Feeling so high but too far away to hold me
You know I'm the one who put you up there
Name in the sky
Does it ever get lonely?
Thinking you could live without me
Thinking you could live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (yeah, I don't know why)
Thinking you could live without me
Live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why, yeah

You don't have to say just what you did
I already know (I know)
I had to go and find out from them
So tell me how's it feel (oh-woah)

Tell me how's it feel sittin' up there
Feeling so high but too far away to hold me
You know I'm the one who put you up there
Name in the sky
Does it ever get lonely?
Thinking you could live without me
Thinking you could live without me
Baby, I'm the one who put you up there
I don't know why (yeah, I don't know why)

General CommentIt feels like every song we get from Halsey is just a hit. This one is especially one of my favorite Halsey songs because it’s her first song since officially splitting from G-Eazy and it couldn’t be more obvious that this song his about him. Only way to get over an ex is to release a song that’s topping the charts, right? If you pay close attention to the lyrics you notice that she actually exposes G-Eazy pretty hard. She sings “Found you when your heart was broke – I filled your cup until it overflowed” explaining that she did too much for G-Eazy. The song is filled with a bunch of tiny jabs at him. The chorus is what really hits the ball out of the park, when she says “Tell me, how’s it feel, sittin up there? Feeling so high, but too far away to hold me, you know I’m the one who put you up there…” Basically, she’s saying that she’s the reason G-Eazy is where he is today. But it gets better, the hook line and sinker of the whole song is when she blurts out ‘thinking you could live without me”. Basically, G-Eazy, she’s telling you that you can’t live without her, and it’s funny if you think you can.

See everyone, celebrities are just like us, they get dumped, and they get upset, and they find a way to get over it. Ladies, whether you got dumped or you were the one who did the dumping, you and Halsey are in the same boat. This song is your anthem and will help you get back on top.

General CommentThis song addresses one of the most common relationship pitfalls from both sides. The singer has fallen into the trap of finding someone to date who she needed to "fix." Whether or not she was happy in the relationship, she stayed because she did not believe that the other person would be okay without her. While it wasn't her responsibility to take care of them, she took this task upon herself anyway, and now seems to feel a little resentment. The singer's partner, on the other hand, is clearly taking her for granted. Now that her partner has a great life and a lot of confidence, they think that they don't need the singer anymore to complete their life. The singer laments that her partner is sitting so high that they're "too far to hold her," implying that they think they're so much better than her now and that they only look down on her. Halsey seems to be on a roll addressing these common relationship problems. Hopefully the more that we talk about them, the fewer people will fall into them.

My InterpretationThis is an alternative thought about this song. It's so damn good it makes me emotional. I thought it was darker than the real meaning. I thought she killed him and he was sitting up there in heaven. Love this song.
