"Sky Full of Song" as written by and Florence Welch Emile Haynie....
How deeply are you sleeping
Or are you still awake?
A good friend told me
You've been staying out so late

Be careful my darling
Be careful of what it takes
What I've seen so far
The good ones always seems to break

I was screaming at my father
And you were screaming at me
I can feel your anger
From way across the sea

I was kissing strangers
I was causing such a scene
Oh the heart it hurts
Such and image of unimaginable things

Grab me by my ankles
I've been flying for too long
I couldn't hide from the thunder
In the sky full of song

And I want you so badly
But you could be anyone
I couldn't hide from the thunder
In the sky full of song

Hold me down, I'm so tired now
Aim your arrow at the sky
Take me down, I'm too tired now
Leave me where I lie

And I can tell that I'm in trouble
When the music starts to play
And the cities without seasons
It keeps raining in LA

I feel like I'm about to fall
The room begins to sway
And I can hear the sirens
But I can't walk away

Grab me by my ankles
I've been flying for too long
I couldn't hide from the thunder
In the sky full of song

And I want you so badly
But you could be anyone
I couldn't hide from the thunder
In the sky full of song

Hold me down, I'm so tired now
Aim your arrow at the sky
Take me down, I'm too tired now
Leave me where I lie

I thought that I was flying
But maybe I'm dying tonight
I thought that I was flying
But maybe I'm dying tonight

I thought that I was flying
But maybe I'm dying tonight
I thought that I was flying
But maybe I'm dying tonight

Hold me down, I'm so tired now
Aim your arrow at the sky
Take me down, I'm too tired now
Leave me where I lie (fire)

Hold me down, I'm so tired now
Aim your arrow at the sky
Take me down, I'm too tired now
Leave me where I lie (fire)

My Interpretationwell the first time i heard this song i thought wow this THIS is really the anthem of the tired soul !! LOL

for me, this song is about a person who's looking for her life. and in doing so, found herself greeted by a lot of uncertainties and a seemingly quiet despair that may have stemmed from the disapointment of not getting what she thought she should have found by now. all this makes her tired: the looking for her life, the dealing with the discontent that she/other people have with herself bc of her choices in life.

the "sky full of a song" symbolizes the many choices that she can make or the many stories she can create to achieve the life that she wants for herself. she's been on this journey for a long time now but she still cannot fully decide what she wants. she still doesn't know what her own "song" is.

the "thunder" is all the backlash that she got (or is having) for journeying through that "sky full of song"

so taking the song in this tune, it starts with her warning another person (possibly her past self) to be wary of the direction that shes headed for. that person is your ordinary responsible working citizen: putting in the hours, sometimes pushing herself a little more than she should. all while finding the whole ordeal dull ('How deeply are you sleeping?'); she feels stuck.

so she decides to partake on a journey to the "sky full of song" but this is met with disapproval by her father & possibly her partner/loved one

next we find her "looking for herself" in that place now.. 'Kissing strangers' here may also pertain to diff jobs or careers that she's trying out (but u kno it may also be taken literally haha) and shes kind of overwhelmed by all of the possibilities and 'unimaginable things' that she can do here in the ~sky full of song~

but then shes been wading here too long; searching and searching for something she herself doesn't know. this makes her so very exhausted (of herself, of her thoughts, even of her life in the sky) and shes thinking of all the things she left behind and the people who she may have let down
    aka the ~thunder~

still, she wants to find that THING, you know, HER THING, HER SONG. shes traded so much already to be out here but she still doesnt know wat it is that shes looking for ('But you could be anyone')

this built up frustration is translated into PURE UTTER EXHAUSTION. YAGIRL IS JUST SO SO TIRED .

and she wants all the intrusive thoughts in her head (u know, the thunder) to leave her alone.

    and here comes..

"i thought i was flying but maybe i'm dying"
she beginning to feel as if the whole journey is a lost cause. that she is a lost cause herself. she can't find what she wants. she's soo tired. she's just doesnt know anymore. and she wants to be left alone.

but oddly enough, this song doesn't scream defeat to me at all. sure, it fits into the theme of descent towards surrender. it captures that moment of doubt, regret, despair, disappointment, exhaustion, and numbness. but the person doesn't say that shes given up. she's just tired. and maybe that's why i like this song a lot HAHA
