Well I don’t wanna be where the bands are
I don't wanna hear that chainsaw noise
I don’t give a damn about your hopes and your dreams
Or what the rest of the world enjoys

Well I’ve been chewing razor blades honey
I’ve been chasing meat
I’ve got a salvation army banging on in my head
And a bucket of bones at my feet

And there's nothing coming easy
And there’s witches in my bed
There’s a taste in my mouth that I just can’t place
And I’m haunted by the things I should have said

I’m trying to get better
Well I’ll be your best friend
And I’ll kiss goodbye to my evil twin
On my word you can depend
Boy scout to the end

Well I don’t wanna see in your windows
I don’t wanna meet your gold dust friends
I don’t give a damn about the money in your bank
On what your happiness all depends

Well I’ve been sucking on dead air honey
I’ve been chasing wind
I’ve got a hole in my pocket where the sun don’t shine
And I’m paranoid that I've been twinned

And everything's moving slowly
Like a carousel sticking in the mud
Everybody's hanging on for one last dance
And I'm bringing my one last drug

I’m trying to get better
I’ll be your best friend
And I’ll kiss goodbye to my evil twin
On my word you can depend
Boy scout to the end

Well I don’t wanna be in your phone book
Every time you call me, I’ll be engaged
I don’t give a damn if you ever get to know me
Or you're horrified and enraged

I’ve been swallowing rusty nails honey
I’ve been breaking teeth
I’ve got a bag full of tricks even I don’t believe
And I'm a whole different story underneath

And I’m sick and tired of being right
Ad my heart beats once a day
There’s a hole in my head where the rain gets in
And I’m too old to live any other way

I’m trying to get better
I’ll be your best friend
And I’ll kiss goodbye to my evil twin
On my word you can depend

Boy scout to the end
Aww no
Woo hoo

"Well, how did I get here?" -- Talking Heads

Only I, for one, am not as philosophical as The Talking Heads so I never quite got it. This song slammed it home for me when I needed it most.

At some point in your life, you may wake up and not like who you've become. You've got years of scars--injustices given and received, painful losses, embarrassing miscalculations--to overcome; you've got present relationships and situations to consider; and you've got to make changes to secure your own future mental well-being. Some people will watch you change, and the energy and excitement you invest in that change, and assume you are preaching a New Way to them. But you're not. Now more than ever you know that another life is none of your business, and you'd just like some acceptance, or at least peace, while you take control of your own to live on your own terms, honestly.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

When We Were Young
Blink-182
This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
