Packing all my things for the summer
Lying on my bed it's a bummer
'Cause I didn't call when I got your number
But I liked you a lot
Slippin' on my dress in soft filters
Everybody said you're a killer, but I
Couldn't stop the way I was feeling the day
Your record dropped

The day I saw your white Mustang
Your white mustang
The day I saw your white Mustang
Your white mustang

Caught up in my dreams and forgetting
I've been acting like armageddon 'cause you
Held me in your arms just a little too tight
That's what I thought
Summer's meant for loving and leaving
I was such a fool for believing that you
Could change all the ways you've been living
But you just couldn't stop

The day I saw your white Mustang
Your white mustang
The day I saw your white Mustang
Your white mustang

You're revving and revving and revving it up
And the sound, it was frightening
And you were getting a part of that
You're gonna hit me like lightening

White mustang
Your white mustang
The day I saw your white Mustang
Said you're a wild Mustang

You're gonna hit me like lightning
You're gonna hit me like lightning

While some of this suggests that the subject is a love interest with a white car, I wonder if this isn't another nod to Stevie Nicks.

Nicks has an album titled "In Your Dreams" (dreams are mentioned in the song) and the album cover features a white horse. The lines suggests s/he first saw the white mustang early in the summer "...the day [a] record dropped." "In Your Dreams" was released May 3rd of 2011.

    Song Meaning

White mustang is a euphemism for the guy's cock. Sounds ridiculous but that's what it is. She slept with him and though she was told he was a "killer" (lady killer), she couldn't help but to fall for him. He was probably a musician she admired and she thought he could change his ways, but now she sees that he never will.

"You're revving and revving and revving it up And the sound, it was frightening And you were getting a part of that You're gonna hit me like lightening"

His "revving" (going faster) is about his ways and how it "hits her like lightening" but also about the way he fucks her and the way she feels when they do it.

Summer is coming to an end she wishes she would’ve called the guy she liked more. She believes in summer love but knows he is bad news for her and it will only get her in trouble if she pursued him . Everyone around her doesn’t want them to be together but she can’t help the way she feels and is drawn in to him , white mustang is a reference for his dick . They’ve slept together and it’s electric and makes her feel so good so she refers to it as “lightening “ . “Held me in your arms just a little to tight” she is falling deeper in love with him and it scares her so she is a mess fighting her emotions between how she feels and how she believes everyone thinks she should feel . In a battle with her own emotions . Revving and revving it up- they are having sex and she enjoys it so much that she’s frightened to actually lose this feeling of euphoria .

    My Interpretation

This song is about missing a loved one who was sentenced to prison, Lana thought her love could change the man and make him live an honest life but it didn't work out like that sadly.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
