Little grave I'm grieving, I will mend you
Sweet revenge I'm dreaming, I will end you
I've been here since dawn of time
Countless hatreds built my shrine
I was born in anger's flame
He was Able, I was Cain
I am here
I'm still hell unbound
Burn your kingdom to the ground
To the ground

Here comes revenge, just for you
Revenge, you can't undo
Revenge, it's killing me
Revenge, set me free

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
A life for a life, it's my burden of proof

Revenge, just for you
Revenge
You ask for forgiveness, I give you sweet revenge

I return this nightmare, I will find you
Sleepless, cloaked in despair, I'm behind you
Man has made me oh so strong
Blurring lines of right and wrong
Far too late for frail amends
Now it's come to sweet revenge
Desperate hands
That lose control
Have no mercy on your soul
On your soul

Here comes revenge, just for you
Revenge, you can't undo
Revenge, it's killing me
Revenge, set me free

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
A life for a life, it's my burden of proof

Revenge, just for you
Revenge
You ask for forgiveness, I give you sweet revenge

Here comes revenge, just for you
Revenge, you can't undo
Revenge, it's killing me
Revenge, set me free

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth
A life for a life, it's my burden of proof

Revenge, just for you
Revenge
You ask for forgiveness, I give you sweet revenge

General CommentJames has said that the inspiration for this song came from two fans - a married couple, who had lost their child to a drunk driver. The song is basically Hetfield singing from that perspective thus the intro "Little grave I'm grieving, I will mend you". It's a dark but very human song. I dont believe it glorifies revenge but it shows how the need for revenge can take ove and seem to be the only way forward.

My InterpretationI think this song is talking about a supposed revenge coming from the devil, and the failure that mankind commit everyday, like in the phrase "Blurred lines of right and wrong", makes him become stronger to achieve this revenge.

General CommentMetallica is kinda ateist, they only use crhistian metafores to explane something. This song is about a the obssesion with the punishment of an act. Its simply about the obsessive will to take revenge on someone, even if this destroy the one how comit the revenge. When his singing "Man has made me oh so strong, blurring lines of right and wrong" is about how the obsession make the person feel, without boundires, without remorse, only fueld by hate towards the goal of take revenge.

My Interpretationif you look at the lyrics and the music video of this song, you'll see revenge from a cruel man! similar to dystopia song by megadeth which say "Dictatorship ends starting with tyrannicide" dictators and cruels will taste what they did to people soon!
