Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
All my favorite conversations
Always made in the A.M.
Yeah, yeah

Feels like this could be forever tonight
Break these clocks, forget about time
There could be a World War Three goin' on outside
You and me were raised in the same part of town
Got these scars on the same ground
Remember how we used to kick around just wastin' time?

Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
All my favorite conversations
Always made in the A.M.
'Cause we don't know what we're sayin'
We're just swimmin' 'round in our glasses
And talkin' out of our asses
Like we're all gonna make it
Yeah, yeah

Feels like this could be forever right now
Don't wanna sleep 'cause we're dreamin' out loud
Tryin' to behave but you know that we never learn how
You and me were raised in the same part of town
Got these scars on the same ground
Remember how we used to kick around just wastin' time?

Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
All my favorite conversations
Always made in the A.M.
'Cause we don't know what we're sayin'
We're just swimmin' 'round in our glasses
And talkin' out of our asses
Like we're all gonna make it
Yeah, yeah

Ooh
You know I'm always comin' back to this place
Ooh
You know
And I'll say
Ooh
You know I'm always gonna look for your face
Ooh
You know

Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
All my favorite conversations
Always made in the A.M.
'Cause we don't know what we're sayin'
We're just swimmin' 'round in our glasses
And talkin' out of our asses
Like we're all gonna make it
Yeah, yeah

Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
You know I'm always comin' back to this place
Won't you stay 'til the A.M.? Yeah, yeah
You know
Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
You know I'm always gonna look for your face
Won't you stay 'til the A.M.?
Yeah, yeah

    General Comment

This song is written from the perspective of someone who is reminiscing their past with someone they love.

The narrator wants to go back to adolescence where everything, including this relationship, was much simpler than the present. The meaning of the first verse is pretty self evident:

// Feels like this could be forever tonight Break these clouds, forget about time There could be a World War three goin' on outside // They are so caught up in each other that nothing else matters at the time besides their bubble of safety that surrounds them when they have these late night (or early morning) conversations.

// You and me were raised in the same part of town Got these scars on the same ground // This could be either literal or figurative. They might be referring to actually growing up together or they could be referring to coming from similar backgrounds.

// Remember how we used to kick around just wasting time? // This lyric I imagine a couple of teenagers kicking a soccer ball around hahaha but I think it also refers to the effortless quality about their relationship; just glad to be around each other no matter what they were doing.

    And then the chorus:

// Won't you stay 'til the A.M.? All my favourite conversations Always made in the A.M // Late-night conversations are usually connoted with honesty and/or intimacy and those types of conversations are what the narrator values most.

// 'Cause we don't know what we're saying We're just swimmin' 'round in our glasses And talkin' out of our asses Like we're all gonna make it, yeah yeah // I interpret "swimmin around in our glasses" to compare a fish, kept in a small glass bowl with no other option but swimming around and around their bowl, to high-aspiring teenagers. So the couple in this song obviously individually have large goals for later in life, believing that they're "all gonna make it". But either the past them or present them recognize how hard it is to actually pursue your dreams. They are stuck in this glass bowl, being able to see out of it but not realizing there is no escape from their confinements of what I presume to be reality.

The third verse: // Feels like this could be forever right now Don't wanna sleep cause we're dreaming out loud Trying to behave but you know that we never learn, ha // Again, considering things such as time to be trivial when they are in their own little world. They're too interested in sharing their aspirations in life to each other to go to sleep. They also know that they should go to sleep, but that doesn't change the fact that they won't.

Bridge: // Ooh, you know I'm always coming back to this place Ooh, you know And I'll say Ooh, you know I'm always gonna look for your face Ooh, you know // Now, the bridge makes me think that their relationship has ended but the narrator can't help but feel nostalgic of their memories together, specifically their memories of staying up talking a bunch of shit with each other.

So, all in all, the narrator misses the simplicity of their lives and of their relationship when they were teenagers. I love this song SO much because i am 16 right now and it really does feel like anything is possible. I think it somehow also captures how scary growing up is, although I couldn't pinpoint any specific lyric to support that, just the feeling I get from listening to the song and reading the lyrics.

Anyway that was probably a stupid interpretation but I adore this song so I think it deserves some love in the comment section :-)

The Night We Met

This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
