I really love this song it really touches my heart.
To me it is about a very pure expression of feelings of longing in the distance to a different time, one may has experienced or wishes to have experienced. "Pink and blue were dancing" seems to referencing a boy and a girl (in a stereotypical manner) who are having a very special night.
