Someone said they left together
I ran out the door to get her
She was holding hands with Trevor
Not the greatest feeling ever
Said, "Pull yourself together
You should try your luck with Heather"
Then I heard they slept together
Oh, the less I know the better
The less I know the better

Oh, my love, can't you see yourself by my side?
No surprise when you're on his shoulder like every night
Oh, my love, can't you see that you're on my mind?
Don't suppose you could convince your lover to change his mind?
So goodbye

She said, "It's not now or never
Wait ten years, we'll be together"
I said, "Better late than never
Just don't make me wait forever"
Don't make me wait forever
Don't make me wait forever

Oh, my love, can't you see yourself by my side?
I don't suppose you could convince your lover to change his mind?

I was doin' fine without you
'Til I saw your face, now I can't erase
Givin' in to all his bullshit
Is this what you want? is this who you are?
I was doin' fine without you
'Til I saw your eyes turn away from mine
Oh, sweet darling, where he wants you
Said, "Come on Superman, say your stupid line"
Said, "Come on Superman, say your stupid line"
Said, "Come on Superman, say your stupid line"

I think the song is about suppressing the feelings of jealousy after a break-up, when both try to date new people and usually one of them (in this case the guy) still has the hope in retaking the relationship or at least there are remains of sexual attraction for her he cannot control.

I imagine the next scenario. He goes somewhere with friends (a party, an event) and by coincidence he sees his ex-girlfriend with someone else. Someone tells him "they left together", he "runs out to go and get her" (impulsively he insists in finding out if she is indeed dating someone, even though they have ended the relationship) When he goes out, he sees her "holding hands with Trevor" (the guy she was with, he must be familiar to him, cause he knows his name). This affirms she is interested in someone else.

If you still feel attracted to your ex-girlfriend and you see her flirting with someone, it might be "not the greatest feeling ever". After that, maybe writing some other day, she suggests him to overcome the situation and let her go: "pull yourself together". She wants him to date someone else and to stop following her: "You should try your luck with Heather"

Then he heard "they slept together" and that breaks any hope to get her back. He finds out that "the less I know the better", because that makes him feel sexually frustrated and jealous (Maybe I deduce this from the ideas in the videoclip).

But he still has her in his mind and cannot forget her. He may still have feelings for her and suffers while imagining her with the new guy, "Oh my love, can't you see yourself by my side. No surprise when you're on his shoulder like every night. Oh my love, can't you see that you're on my mind", Maybe temporally he resignates: "Don't suppose we could convince your lover to change his mind So goodbye".

She still gives him some small hopes: "It's not now or never Wait 10 years, we'll be together". And he agrees in waiting: "Better late than never. Just don't make me wait forever".

Then he points out how good he was doing after the break-up until that incident, when he saw her with Trevor by chance: "I was doing fine without you. 'Til I saw your face -now I can't erase- giving in to all his bullshit. 'Til I saw your eyes turn away from mine". He considers the guy like a dumb ass. He's in this state of anger and compares her to the person she used to be when they were together: "Is this what you want, is this who you are?"

He feels obsessed and try to question why Trevor wants her, if she only wants to use her:: "Oh, sweet darling, where he wants you". She considers, it's stupid to save the relationship like a superhero, saying silly things, when she has the possibility to move on, "Come on Superman, say your stupid line".

I think I could quite relate to the feelings, cause a week ago at a party I saw my ex-girlfriend with some other guy(we were together for 3 years). We had broken up months ago, but I felt intruded when I saw her flirting in the same place where friends and I were. I found out I still had some feelings for her (or at least I still feel attracted to her). After that incident I couldn't sleep one night, feeling jealous, wondering if the guy is better lover than me and so on. There was an impulsive that plays with your mind and makes you find out about her. I had the feeling that "the less I know the better", but some stubborn part of me was still insisting in convincing her of coming back.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
