They tell us that we don't understand, we do.
They tell us that we're all lazy, we ain't.
They tell us that we're going to hell, we aren't.
They tell us that the power is might, and it ain't.
They tell us who they hate hate hate, we won't.
They tell me that I'm violent, and I ain't.
They tell you that you missed your mark, you didn't.
They tell us we have equal chance, and we don't.

Well maybe we should all bring them in close.
Comb them all down 'til they feel soothed.
Show them we can all change water into wine,
once we understand the best purpose for life.
Be realistic with your reflection.
Maybe some of us should let go of billions.
Easy for us to help the lost children,
keep up minds and their own (art/our?) education. (?)

Go take a journalist job, then lie.
Become a policeman and then, just lie.
Get elected leader and, then lie.
Say you're a man of faith then lie.
Just speak the truth is all we cry.
Protect the innocent is all we cry.
Don't lead corrupt is all we cry.
Don't use your faith for gain we cry.

Last night when I spoke with god,
said my followers are lost,
that my preachers are distraught.
And I don't know where I went wrong,
try to make 'em all strong,
would you put this in a song?

So I went and wrote the words right down,
the man and the band on the top of fair ground. (?)
Then the label went and let it on through,
maybe a-scared of weird money would accrue. (?)
Then the preacher said you can't speak for god,
it makes you a liar and it makes you a fraud.
And what is the gospel in the bible,
maybe god was just being a bit awful.

Last night when I spoke with god,
said I don't know where I went wrong, went wrong.

I tell you that you do want to stay, because you do.
I tell you that you're doing just right, because you are.
I tell you that you're life will be fine, because it will.
I tell you that you are love, because you are.
I tell you that you will hit your mark, because you will.
I tell you that you're beautiful, because you are.
I tell you that you're talented, sure are.
I tell you that you are perfect the way you are.

Last night, when I spoke with god,
said my followers are lost,
that my preachers are distraught.
And I don't know where I went wrong,
I tried to make them all strong.
Would you put it in a song?

Last night, when I spoke with god,
said my followers are lost,
that my preachers are distraught.
I don't know where I went wrong,
tried to make them all strong.
Would you put it in a song?

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
