A song about deception, and not being true to yourself (lying through life)??

I am not sure of the significance of the vulture landing. Does the phrase hold some meaning I am not aware of? All I can figure is that the vulture signifies death and by landing it is removing the "sheep's attire" and will reveal the real you. Or at least give you the chance to start afresh and true to yourself.
