A mundane way of living still keeps you writing everything down
in the note pad you carry around, you know that’s why you still carry around
the minutiae of your daily misfortunes and every single little let down.
You’d forget em if you don’t write em down.
You know that that’s why you still write em all down.
And when you go back and read them, I see the darkness sinking in.
You’re a different person. I see no likeness in your eyes.
Like you never wanted it to end.
All day you been walking around in a blur of the ground that you follow,
and keep returning to where it all started. I think it’s where you wanna go.
The playground of your mind’s been vacated, and swing sets have been taken down, and the monkey bars have been replaced with real bars and saloons in this drunk college town
And when you go back to visit, you see nostalgia kicking in,
but it’s a different vision. It’s not like you thought it’d turn out as a kid.
You’re not how you thought you would turn out as a kid.
And now you’re ready for it to end.
So all day you've been kicking yourself and asking yourself the same thing.
You ask, “When’s this day gonna end?”
