Give me breath, And let me cough
Drag me back, Collect my thoughts
I've come back to the land i'd lost
Sometimes i feel like they don't understand me
I Hear their mouths making foreign sounds
Sometimes i think they're all just speaking tongues
Who's been killed and who's been kissed
(Drag me back, Collect my thoughts)
I'll be gone when the drugs wear off
Sometimes i feel like they don't understand me
I Hear their mouths making foreign sounds
Sometimes you'd think they spoke another language
Sometimes i feel like they don't understand me
I Hear their mouths making foreign sounds
Sometimes i think they're all just speaking tongues
That i am the chosen one
But There's no way, That I am the only one
And there's no one to save
If there's nowhere for them to run
Sometimes i feel like they don't understand me
I Hear their mouths making foreign sounds
Sometimes you'd think they spoke another language
Sometimes i feel like they don't understand me
I Hear their mouths making foreign sounds
Sometimes i think they're all just speaking tongues
They're all just speaking tongues
They're all just speaking tongues
They're all just speaking tongues
I know this is childish, but I swear to god I thought he was saying "Drag me back, lick my balls".
This song is really clever. It starts out with a kick drum that sounds like the hard-to-integrate, free kicks on Fruity Loops, then the second layer starts and blends the kick perfectly. Then the other layers are added sequentially to produce an (unexpectedly) cohesive sound. Your first impression of the song is effectively flipped on it's head- the composition is a juxtapose to the initial expectation. Also, the lyrics- they kinda speak as if from an Aspergian perspective- where the world doesn't make sense, the speaker is kinda lost in the constructs of society and is only integrated briefly (until "the drugs wear off"). So the melodic composition itself is a reflection of this sense of being misunderstood and misjudged.
Whether or not that was the intention, it is brilliance to me.
