"What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."

I always thought the meaning of this song is fairly obvious. But its a song which many can relate to and I find that sad.
This song is straightforward. Basically it is about outcasts dream of being looked up by everybody, while accommodate with freaking catchy flowing rhythm, which is not common in Indie Rock.
It's about how almost everyone strives for something untouchable and unobtainable. Work toward something that could benefit yourself, don't become someone else.
This song is about children who feel alone and want to be noticed like the cool kids. They may be bullied or judged and ignored all the time. I can deeply relate to this song on a personal level as I am very smart but have no friends. These guys need to learn to love themselves before anyone else. That's my interpretation.
