I've interpreted the song like this:

At first you kindle life You place it in a man This man, he has a heart That’s filled with fire

From the wolf's perspective. The wolf was the man's pet. (From the first two lines.) The man is young and fierce, his heart is filled with fire.

The man will have a wife The wife creates the home They multiply and so Their hearts are filled with fear

The man finds a wife, and they have children. Their parental instincts kick in, they think that: "No way, we can't have a beast like a wolf as a pet, we have children that could be hurt by it!"

The man creates a wall He arms, defends them all This fear becomes his fall

The man lets the wolf go, into the wilderness, and protects his community (I think the song evokes a feeling of a small mountain village, but this is just personal imagery I happen to think fits the song.)

“Blood is a bodily fluid in animals that Delivers necessary substances such as Nutrients and oxygen to the cells and Transports metabolic waste products Away from those same cells.”

I don't know if this definition of blood is here to sound cool, but you could look at it like this: We are afraid of everything unpredictable, wild (like wolves) and unknown. Therefore we categorize everything to make it more familiar. Blood is our life force, it's what keeps us alive, and here it is described objectively in a cold, calculated scientific manner.

The thesis of the song is first introduced here. Life is an ever flowing arrow of fear. The fear keeps us going. The villagers see blood in the snow, left by the wolves preying on wild animals. The community grows more restless and fearful.

The people can hear the wolves howling at night. The next two lines are from the wolf's perspective, again. Orion was a great hunter, that's what the wolf thinks about our protagonist. His cubs are obviously his children. The man can feel and see glimpses of the wolves in the woods around the village.

This is the here and now. The man and the wolf are face to face, staring at each other, the first one to hesitate dies.

There’s a cave on the hills, In the woods not so far away Never once had he seen the descent Of majestic gray coming his way

The wolf lives in a cave nearby the village, and has seen the man many times when he has been outside the villages walls. Only this night, the wolf doesn't just observe the man. It confronts him.

Now he can see those blue eyes Burning through the darkened night “He knows the fur, he used to love her…”

They are now face to face. The man recognizes the wolf, his pet from a time when he was younger.

Ready or not, there will be blood! Life is a gift you have no lease for anymore. There will blood! You will buy our blood with your own blood You will buy our blood with your own blood The last thing you’ll see is a

Wolf's perspevtive. It wants revenge. The people of the village have probably killed its friends or family members, because they were afraid of them. ("You will buy our blood with your own blood", and the wolf thinking the man is "Orion" from before)

The chorus again, the wolf and the man are face to face.

Who’s more of a beast A king or a priest What do you believe?

Priests are usually peaceful and docile beings, who on the surface seem not too dangerous. Kings, on the other hand, often wage wars, execute people and so on. So the obvious answer would be a king is more of a beast. But when you think about it, priests have historically been pretty corrupted.They can cause more damage, because we trust them. We know to fear people with power, but a wolf in sheep's clothing...

Things we fear… wolves or the people Wolves fear the fear of the people Think, how one fearful man can destroy this world

We fear everything, be it wolves or the people. Wolves are simple beings, they only fear our fear. The villagers have hunted wolves, because they were afraid of them causing harm to the people. This in turn makes the wolves fear people, and make them more likely to attack them. I think the last line says that in the age of nuclear weapons, one push of a button can destroy this world.

The wolf remembers the past it shares with the man.

This is the grand statement of the song, that appeared briefly earlier in the song. I'm not sure I agree with it completely, but here is how I see it: fear is what makes us tick. We can't function if we fear everything. So we deny all the things that could kill us. For example every time you drive a car, you are denying the fear of getting in an accident. We simply couldn't function if we didn't face our fears. Fear of something happening to our loved ones motivates us to protect them, to work for their health and safety.

The wolf in your eyes blinks first and dies Beauty and fear, the wolves and the people

The wolf hesitates first. The supposed "beast" it the first one to hesitate to attack an old friend. It recognizes him and it's instincts say: "He's a friend." The human, the "civilized" one, is afraid. He doesn't know if his old pet that he loved oh so long ago, is going to attack him. So he thinks logically. It's beast. A wild animal. Unpredictable. He can't take any chances, he must survive, for his family. So he kills the wolf. Before, I said the king would be the obvious beast, but the priest could be way more sinister. Now, the wolf is the obvious beast, but the man is the first one to rely on violence.

Those hills have no eyes, but they hear your cries Beauty and fear, the blood, the wolves and the people

The man realizes what he's done, and he starts crying.

That's what I think about it anyhow. There is some speculation there, but I think my interpretation is pretty well grounded in the lyrics. Hope I helped you understand the song better or at least give you a different point of view.
