Welcome to your life
There's no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you

Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world

It's my own design
It's my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most

Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

There's a room where the light won't find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I'll be right behind you

So glad we've almost made it
So sad they had to fade it
Everybody wants to rule the world
Everybody wants to rule the world
Everybody wants to rule the world

THIS IS MY OWN THOUGHTS OF THE LYRICS

Welcome to your life There's no turning back

( it resembles a hard choice you made and after the choice you can't go back. So you must live with it )

Even while we sleep We will find you

( it's the remorse and sadness of the choices that you made and even your dreams can't let you escape. so the remorse will always be with you )

    Acting on your best behaviour

( you try so hard to live with it and try to don't let it show to your friends/Family )

Turn your back on mother nature

( you break the line of society and yourself and start to be a ''thug'' )

Everybody wants to rule the world

( deep inside you you know that you want to rule the world. to have a meaning in live)

It's my own design It's my own remorse

( it's the sadness that's controlling you. it designed you. it controls you to make bad choices )

Help me to decide Help me make the most Of freedom and of pleasure

( the sadness is talking to you and it wants you to fill up the emptiness in your heart)

There's a room where the light won't find you

( it's dark thoughts that can't be changed even by love or other things)

Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down When they do I'll be right behind you

( in the end the choices that you make will lead you to your doom. but the choices also brought happines and will die with you )

So glad we've almost made it So sad they had to fade it

( you're glad that it ended. that it stopped your desire that it stopped you to rule the world. but it's sad that all the happy things will fade away)

well that was my conclusion.... Share yours !

    Song Meaning

I havent figured out the other lyrics yet, but:

"There's a room where the light won't find you"

means that there is a time and a place/a literal "room" where Only Evil will happen to you.A point where no God and No Man can save you..where "TheLight"(All Good Things),will NOT find you, like it has done before...A point where your Greatest fears come to life and that is the Inevitable End.The Final Room.

I'll edit once I figure out the other lines but the song is Darker than people make it out to be.

    would love some feedback,thanks:)

I know this isn't what the song is about but it always reminded me of the PJO/HOO/ Rick Riordan's books in general so I'll just break it down. Welcome to your life There's no turning back (This refers to how once the demigods know who they are they can't go back to having a normal life) Even while we sleep We will find you (This refers to how the monsters are constantly tracking the demigods) Acting on your best behaviour (This refers to the strict rules of the Roman legion and how they are punished if they don't follow them) Turn your back on mother nature (This refers to how the demigods fought and defeated Gaea, the Earth Mother) Everybody wants to rule the world (The gods, giants, and other forces that are always fighting for control) It's my own design It's my own remorse (The multiple demigods who sided with evil forces and had to sacrifice themselves to set things right) Help me to decide (Some demigods are unsure of where to side because they are supposed to side with the gods, who treat them badly or ignore them, while the enemy promises they will be treated better) Help me make the most Of freedom and of pleasure Nothing ever lasts forever (The way the demigods try to be happy while they can knowing that eventually they will have to fight more battles) There's a room where the light won't find you (This definitely refers to Tartarus) Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down (This refers to Percy and Annabeth and/or Nico and Will, both of whom fell into Tartarus holding hands so they wouldn't be separated) When they do I'll be right behind you (This refers to either Percy or Will, who both traveled into Tartarus so their partners wouldn't be alone in it) So glad we've almost made it So sad they had to fade it (The way demigods always think they have won or the danger is gone, but usually end up being killed or attacked again) Again, this is just what I think of when I hear the lyrics, and I love applying song lyrics to books. Let me know what you think ;)

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
