(Oh, new)
Yeah, you guys ready?
見参
Katy Perry
And TEE
Ha ha, here we go

I knew you were
You were gonna come to me
And here you are
But you better choose carefully
'Cause I, I'm capable of anything
Of anything and everything

Make me your Aphrodite
Make me your one and only
But don't make me your enemy (enemy)
Your enemy (your enemy), your enemy

So you wanna play with magic?
Boy, you should know what you're fallin' for
Baby, do you dare to do this?
'Cause I'm coming at you like a dark horse (hey)

Are you ready for, ready for (hey)
A perfect storm, perfect storm? (Hey, hey)
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine (hey, hey, hey, hey)
(There's no going back)

Mark my words
This love will make you levitate
Like a bird, like a bird without a cage
But down to earth
If you choose to walk away, don't walk away

It's in the palm of your hand now, baby
It's a yes or a no, no maybe
So just be sure before you give it all to me
All to me, give it all to me

So you wanna play with magic?
Boy, you should know what you're fallin' for
Baby, do you dare to do this?
'Cause I'm coming at you like a dark horse (hey)

Are you ready for, ready for (hey)
A perfect storm, perfect storm? (Hey, hey)
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine (hey, hey, hey, hey)
(There's no going back)

So you wanna play with magic?
Boy, you should know what you're fallin' for (you should know)
Baby, do you dare to do this?
'Cause I'm coming at you like a dark horse (like a dark horse)
Are you ready for, ready for (ready for)
A perfect storm, perfect storm? (A perfect storm)
'Cause once you're mine, once you're mine (oh)
(There's no going back)

    Song Meaning

Right let me get this straight, I know a lot of people are obsessed with the whole illuminati thing and I get it. The Egyptian-themed music video for 'Dark Horse' did include a lot of pyramids and Katy also portrayed Cleopatra as EVIL with supernatural powers. Perry is also seen holding up a monocle bearing the Eye Of Horus; which symbolises great power. Although the song and video do seem a little bit weird and Illuminati orientated, I can give you my interpretation for the lyrics without all the Illuminati crap, and why Katy might of wrote it like this.

I knew you were You were gonna come to me And here you are But you better choose carefully 'Cause I’m capable of anything Of anything and everything

Here, Katy is explaining how she knew this particular person was going to give into her and come to her. She saying that they must choose carefully because she may be dangerous and untrustworthy. She explains how she is capable of anything which means she is so powerful and she can do whatever she likes with you. She is in control.

Make me your Aphrodite Make me your one and only But don’t make me your enemy, your enemy, your enemy

She is wanting to be spoiled with love and what else. She wants to be the centre of attention and to be made 'one and only' by you. You should be careful, as it seems she will turn out even more evil if you get on the wrong side of her.

So you wanna play with magic Boy, you should know whatcha falling for Baby do you dare to do this 'Cause I’m coming atcha like a dark horse

Dark Horse is in fact inspired by the 1996 witch film, The Craft. This is why Perry talks about magic and 'daring to do this' - Katy wanted the song to have a "witchy-spell-y kind of feel to it". The term dark horse means someone who is little known but unexpectedly wins or succeeds. Katy is telling us she's done something/going to do something unexpectedly (falling in love). The vocals in this song seem very seductive and luring.

Are you ready for, ready for A perfect storm, a perfect storm 'Cause once you’re mine, once you’re mine There’s no going back

Katy is determined to keep you with her and once you fall for her, theres no going back.

Mark my words This love will make you levitate Like a bird Like a bird without a cage But down to earth If you choose to walk away, don’t walk away

The song seems to get even more seductive yet creepier as it carries on. 'This love will make you levitate' - Katy is telling us her love is so strong and the levitation reference tells us that she is the one in charge now, she is the dominant female. It also gives the song more of a 'witchy' vibe. She is telling you not to walk away.

It’s in the palm of your hand now baby It’s a yes or no, no maybe So just be sure before you give it up to me Up to me, give it up to me

Perry is telling you that its up to you and whatever choice you make better be a carefully thought-through one. You better be sure, or else.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
