Flight of The Crow Lyrics
And sometimes I feel like I want to go home,
But the cars they keep on driving
Down a road that doesn’t seem to end.
So we’re following arrows and the flight of the crow,
Living wide screen but what good is it though
When life gets narrower the further you go;
Suns set before they rise?
It’s there in the shadows where nobody goes.
It’s there in the dark but what good is it though?
It’s a vanishing point on a shimmering road
And there when I close my eyes.
Sometimes, yeah, it's hard to know the way to go
When the waters rise around you
And the fire rages down below.
So we’re following arrows and the flight of the crow,
Living wide screen but what good is it though
When life gets narrower the further you go;
Suns set before they rise?
It’s there in the shadows where nobody goes.
It’s there in the dark but what good is it though?
It’s a vanishing point on a shimmering road
And there when i close my eyes.
oh no oh oh oh
lo oh oh oh oh
'Cause we’re bullets and we’re fired from shotguns flying through birthdays and new years.
Yeah we’re rolling stones but the moss keeps growing round our hearts and our eyes and our ears.
Yeah we’re bullets and we’re fired from shotguns flying through birthdays and new years.
Yeah we’re rolling stones but the moss keeps growing round our hearts and our eyes and our ears.
So we’re following arrows and the flight of the crow,
Living wide screen but what good is it though
When life gets narrower the further you go;
Suns set before they rise?
It’s there in the shadows where nobody goes.
It’s there in the dark but what good is it though?
It’s a vanishing point on a shimmering road,
It's there when I close my eyes,
It's there when I close my eyes,
Only there when I close my eyes.

To me, this song is about the tendency to not be present.
We long for the things we don't have and look toward the future for things to get better but life just keeps going forward, most of it experienced because of our aversion to pain and the long for what we could have. And as we go, those options of what could be become bleaker and bleaker and we keep moving forward but we experience less and less of it. We wonder sometimes what the point is even.
What you long for is just that vanishing point down a road that only seems appealing when it's ahead of you.
There's no specific mention of the value in living in the now, just hints, because this is a song of someone frustrated with life and how it flies by and longing for what they will never have because of the way they are living life; the way they feel many of us are living life.

I think this song beautifully crafts around the concept of life on repeat. The narrator, Passenger, is conveying how easy it is to get caught in a loop day after day and not live life to the fullest
It's clear that the life isn't enjoyable either, as he mentions that he's tired of it it in the very beginning.
I think the road represents safety and comfort. You stay on the same repeated life, be it by day, week, or month, but never live life to its full potential because you stay in the comfort of the road rather than venture beyond. the road becomes narrow as you feel less comfortable doing things you used to do. as the road gets narrower, your life becomes less and less interesting, leaving you feeling dull and constantly bored. for example, when you're a kid you feel much more comfortable doing something risky than when you're older.
As much as you want to break the cycle, you can't. the road never ends, and its all the same. everyone wants an easy way out, but you can't get one. in this case, perhaps some kind of exit that allows you to break off the road without risk and danger. of course, this never happens, you have to break free and make your own path to experience something new.
Passenger, as he does so often, is able to brilliantly emotions and struggle in this song. this one shows the pain in day to day life and how it all seems the same. from flying through life only ever recognizing landmarks, the birthdays and new years, to the "vanishing point," the unachievable goal on the false image of life, as a mirage (shimmering road).
The flight of the crow itself may very well mean the journey to death, as a single crow is an omen of bad luck and death. This further builds on not fully experiencing life, and rather simply driving straight with the only achievement being the end, not the journey.
