Hearts Without Chains Lyrics

You wake up I know it's time to go
With a spinning head I lie and watch you smoke
Change the hands on my watch and hold you close
This misery is weightless as a stone

Have you lost the same things I have lost?
Do you know that panic I know?
Would I see the terror in your face?
Do you know that fever I know?
I wish time was still
We'd stay right here
With time to kill in our hearts without chains

And if time was still
We'd have no fear or scars to heal
In our hearts without chains
In our hearts without chains

You left everything behind except yourself
All I see is question marks and nothing else
You must've landed in New York by now
Please don't bring this love down

And have you lost the same things I have lost?
And do you know that panic I know?
And would I see the terror in your face?
Do you know that fever I know?

I wish time was still
We'd stay right here
With time to kill
In our hearts without chains

And if time was still
We'd have no fear
Or scars to heal
In our hearts without chains
In our hearts without chains

Don't bring this love down
Don't bring this love down
Don't bring this love down
Don't bring this love down

I wish time was still
We'd stay right here
With time to kill
In our hearts without chains

And if time was still
We'd have no fear
Or scars to heal
In our hearts without chains
In our hearts without chains
In our hearts without chains

I submitted the correct lyrics (I think), but here they are in the mean time:

You wake up I know it's time to go With a spinning head I lie and watch you smoke Change the hands on my watch and hold you close This misery is weightless as a stone

Have you lost the same things I have lost? Do you know that panic I know? Would I see the terror in your face? Do you know that fever I know? I wish time was still We'd stay right here With time to kill in our hearts without chains

And if time was still We'd have no fear or scars to heal In our hearts without chains In our hearts without chains

You left everything behind except yourself All I see is question marks and nothing else You must've landed in New York by now Please don't bring this love down

And have you lost the same things I have lost? And do you know that panic I know? And would I see the terror in your face? Do you know that fever I know?

I wish time was still We'd stay right here With time to kill In our hearts without chains

And if time was still We'd have no fear Or scars to heal In our hearts without chains In our hearts without chains

Don't bring this love down Don't bring this love down Don't bring this love down Don't bring this love down

I wish time was still We'd stay right here With time to kill In our hearts without chains

And if time was still We'd have no fear Or scars to heal In our hearts without chains In our hearts without chains In our hearts without chains

I would've balled my eyes out if I heard this song three years ago.

I think this song is very literal and describes her boyfriend moving to New York and leaving her behind in England.

The feelings she describes I can completely relate to. She describes waking up and knowing it's almost time for him to leave. I remember counting down the weeks, days, hours and finally minutes until the last time I'd see my boyfriend before he flew to New York- leaving me in Oregon. I remember wishing those moments would last longer.

With the part:

"Have you lost the same things I have lost? Do you know that panic I know? Would I see the terror in your face? Do you know that fever I know? I wish time was still We'd stay right here With time to kill in our hearts without chains"

I relate this to my overpowering feelings of anger, hurt and betrayal when he told me his plans. How could my boyfriend pack everything and leave? Am I worth so little? She also describes the misery being "as weightless as a stone" and that's what it felt like.. a rock in my stomach that wouldn't leave.
