It feels like a perfect night to dress up like hipsters
And make fun of our exes
Uh-uh, uh-uh
It feels like a perfect night for breakfast at midnight
To fall in love with strangers
Uh-uh, uh-uh

Yeah
We're happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time
It's miserable and magical, oh yeah
Tonight's the night when we forget about the deadlines
It's time
Uh-oh

I don't know about you
But I'm feeling twenty-two
Everything will be alright, if
You keep me next to you
You don't know about me
But I bet you want to
Everything will be alright, if
We just keep dancing like we're twenty-two, twenty-two

It seems like one of those nights
This place is too crowded
Too many cool kids ("Who ist Taylor Swift anyway? Ew")
Uh-uh, uh-uh
It seems like one of those nights
We ditch the whole scene
And end up dreamin'
Instead of sleeping

Yeah
We're happy, free, confused and lonely in the best way
It's miserable and magical, oh yeah
Tonight's the night, when we forget about the heartbreaks
It's time
Uh-oh

(Hey) I don't know about you
But I'm feeling twenty-two
Everything will be alright if (uh-uh-uh)
You keep me next to you
You don't know about me
But I bet you want to
Everything will be alright if
We just keep dancing like we're twenty-two
(Uh, ah-ah-ah uh) twenty-two
I don't know about you
twenty-two
twenty-two

It feels like one of those nights
We ditch the whole scene
It feels like one of those nights
We won't be sleeping
It feels like one of those nights
You look like bad news
I gotta have you
I gotta have you
Uh-uh, uh-uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah

I don't know about you (I don't know about you)
But I'm feeling twenty-two
Everything will be alright, if (uuh)
You keep me next to you
You don't know about me (you don't know about me)
But I bet you want to
Everything will be alright, if
We just keep dancing like we're twenty-two
Uh-oh, oh, oh twenty-two
(Dancing like) twenty-two
Yeah, yeah, twenty-two, yeah, yeah

It feels like one of those nights
We ditch the whole scene
It feels like one of those nights
We won't be sleeping
It feels like one of those nights
You look like bad news
I gotta have you
I gotta have you

General CommentSwift sings of the conflicted emotions of being aged 22 on this collaboration with Swedish producers Max Martin and Shellback. She told Billboard magazine: "For me, being 22 has been my favorite year of my life. I like all the possibilities of how you're still learning, but you know enough. You still know nothing, but you know that you know nothing. You're old enough to start planning your life, but you're young enough to know there are so many unanswered questions. That brings about a carefree feeling that is sort of based on indecision and fear and a the same time letting lose. Being 22 has taught me so much."

General CommentTo me, this song seems to describe college, especially the more fun parts of college. Even just the lyric "We're happy, free, confused and lonely at the same time." I know Taylor's probably never lived in a dorm or had the traditional college experience, but I guess that's how the song applies to my life.

General CommentNot all of the things you were doing at 22 seem pointless many years later. But those bad or mysterious guys, always with a good excuse, are not what you're looking for anymore. You may still like to party and let go, but you do want to listen to them and care about those who listen to you and not minimize your priorities.
You start to appreciate those adults that after some bad experiences are still positive and have faced those moments with grace, without fear and are now focusing on the present, without letting the past keep them prisoners of what once was or of some mistakes. You relate to people that can put their own needs and ego aside for a while and care about you, making you dream again as well as making the dreams as real as they can.

General CommentThis song is a blatant ripoff of Rebecca Black's "Friday." It is also grossly inferior. Watch both videos back to back. Rebecca's complete inexperience and lack of self awareness inspires pity, while Taylor's practiced, yet inept vamping is embarrassing on a completely different level. Rebecca's lyrics are funny, albeit unintentionally so, while Taylor's lyrics are the kind of vacuous fluff used to sell soft drinks to teenagers. "Friday" sticks in my head for hours after I hear. I just listened to "22" and I already forgot the tune. And whose party would you rather be at? OK, I'd rather be at Taylor's party too, but at least Rebecca has one black friend.
