You exchanged letters and said such nice things
But I can't remember the words
Sermons in stone, father's elegant prose
You think our lives are worth more than yours
But we wasted our miracles on such little things
Like hockey games and record stores, aces and kings
While bigger things like family became a lost cause
But I couldn't bear to pray because I couldn't even talk
I looked around the elements, firmery and common sense
And realized you're people too, you flirted then, you still should
Coffee every day
But it's not too late to get ourselves back
