It's like everything turned into a dream
A dream without an end
I can't remember what happened
I just remember you
And how you made me laugh out loud
When you decided to go,
I wish I could have gone with you
I don't like it here anymore
And I don't like being alone
And when I cry
Who's going to make it okay?
When I fall, who's going to carry me?
Tell me what I've done.
Tell me what are we gonna do?
Tell me what I've done.
Tell me what are we gonna do now?
Why!

Take me now and climb to fly
To a higher place where love won't die
We've got something to say without a sound
Tell me what, tell me what are we gonna do now?

Lay ourselves under ground
Tell me what are we gonna do now?
Lay ourselves under ground
Now tell me what's happening to me?
I know something is killing you
Take my life,
Sliding into the blue now
I know something is killing me
Take your life,
I am waiting for you
You.

Wait for me.
I'm alive because I'm dying with you
Wait for me.
I'm alive and I am dying with you

Break away to emergency
You're taking hearts are flying with me
I believe what you say, so say it loud
Tell me what, tell me what are we gonna do now?

Lay ourselves under ground
Tell me what are we gonna do now?
Lay ourselves under ground
Now tell me what's happening to me?
I know something is killing you
Take my life,
I am counting on you now.
I know something is killing me
Take your life
I am waiting for you
You
Wait for me.
I'm alive because I'm dying with you
You
Wait for me
I'm alive and I am dying with you

Break away to emergency
You're taking hearts are flying with me
I believe what you say, so say it loud
Tell me what, tell me what are we gonna do now?

Lay ourselves under ground
Tell me what are we gonna do now?
Lay ourselves under ground
Now tell me what's happening to me?
I know something is killing you
Take my life,
I am counting on you now
I know something is killing me
Take your life
I am waiting for you
You
Wait for me
I'm alive because I'm dying with you
You
Wait for me
I'm alive and I am dying with you

Everything is so beautiful here
It's just like you promised

A whole new world begins with you
A whole new world

But I'm alive and I am dying with you
You wait for me
I'm alive and I am dying with you
You wait for me I'm alive and I am dying with you

    My Opinion

This really is a truly beautiful piece of songwriting and music. And that incredible scream at the beginning sends a shiver down my spine.

To me this song portrays one of the most awful things in love - death - in a beautiful and almost happily-toned way. It depicts how couples may love each other so strongly, so fiercely, that they are willing to die for a chance to join their lover in some other world.

On a more analytical note, this could also be seen as depicting the delirium and denial of loss that comes with severe grief. How some people partially lose their mind when their lover is gone.

My great-grandparents were together for over 60 years and my widower great-grandfather survived only a few weeks after his wife's death. He didn't have to live with the pain for long, or maybe he lived for her. At the time I saw this is tragic but now I realise it is actually quite a beautiful way to end your lives together. This song portrays this perfectly.

    General Comment

The North Halsted Market Days on August 13, 2011 Carah introduced this song saying "This songs going to be called Wait For Me. It's about being willing to do anything for love."

    My Interpretation

I guess it's about being apart. And being split apart by death - and what lies beyond life. Will your loved ones be waiting for you on the other side?

The 'Whhhhyyyyyy!' is really quite amazing. I don't think I've ever heard such emotion in a scream. Why did you go? Why did you die? Why am I alone?

Anyway - I love the last chorus, when they both chime back in at the same time.

Also I think it might be "You're taking hearts offline with me"

    What do you reckon?

This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour

This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
