This is one of my favorite songs. https://fnfgo.io
Every time you start dreaming
or thinking in your past
you can step from this moment
and expect your happiness to last
because the illusion was in the past.
Every time you start wanting
or trying to be free
the mind is ever knowing
that one can only be.
Hey, one can only be.
If your looking you'll never find
don't try to keep up or you'll be left behind.
The joke is over take a look at the end and begin,
and begin again.
Because everything happened here for you
its all been at your hand
but don't try to build a new world
just learn to live on the land.
Come on got to live on the land.
Because you are what you look at
this whole world you can be.
Just give yourself up to your love
and give your love to be free.
or thinking in your past
you can step from this moment
and expect your happiness to last
because the illusion was in the past.
Every time you start wanting
or trying to be free
the mind is ever knowing
that one can only be.
Hey, one can only be.
If your looking you'll never find
don't try to keep up or you'll be left behind.
The joke is over take a look at the end and begin,
and begin again.
Because everything happened here for you
its all been at your hand
but don't try to build a new world
just learn to live on the land.
Come on got to live on the land.
Because you are what you look at
this whole world you can be.
Just give yourself up to your love
and give your love to be free.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
I love all the songs from the family jam album. Charles Manson doesn't sing in any of the songs in that album. However he must have had some input with the lyrics. This is clear to me in the song First They Made Me Sleep In the Closet. But I don't think Manson wrote the songs all by himself because I listened to his solo albums and the music and lyrics suck comparatively. So the family must have worked on those songs collaboratively. Anyway their music is very powerful. If the murders, the insanity wasn't there and instead they toured or marketed themselves they would've had alot of followers or fans.
If anyone can decipher what the women are singing in the background of this song please write it down.
@suburbansadness I must admitt I find their songs very beautiful too. These songs from Family Jams are sang only by these members of family who weren't at that time at TLB trail or in jail. (you can check who sings on wikipedia - familly jams album). All of the lyrics are said to be Manson's. In contrary to what you said, his solo album from two years before has a lot of very good songs with great lyrics, so it's easy for me to believe that most of these lyrics are his, but I agree that they all were very talented and I'm really sad that these murders happened and it didn't happen the way that we would remember them as a great music group from 60's. Unfortunatelly everything went in a really wrong direction. Maybe you refer to some solo albums from the prison when he was older - I did not here them but I believe that while being in prison he could have lost some inspiration, not to mention that he couldn't really have a gituar most of the time.
