I keep playing it inside my head
All that you said to me
I lie awake just to convince myself
This wasn't just a dream

'Cause you were right here
And I should've taken the chance
But I got so scared
And I lost the moment again
It's all that I can think about
Oh, you're all that I can think about

Is your heart taken?
Is there somebody else on your mind?
I'm so sorry, I'm so confused
Just tell me, am I out of time?
Is your heart breaking?
How do you feel about me now?
I can't believe I let you walk away when
When I should have kissed you

I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you

Every morning when I leave my house
I always look for you, yeah
I see you every time I close my eyes
What am I gonna go?

And all my friends say that I'm punching over my weight
But in my eyes I saw how you're looking at me
It's all that I can think about
Oh, you're all that I can think about

Is your heart taken?
Is there somebody else on your mind?
I'm so sorry, I'm so confused
Just tell me, am I out of time?
Is your heart breaking?
How do you feel about me now?
I can't believe I let you walk away when
When I should have kissed you

I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you

When you stood there, just a heartbeat away
When we were dancing, and you looked up at me
If I had known then that I'd be feeling this way
If I could replay I would never have let you go
No, oh, never have let you go
Am I out of time?

Is your heart taken?
Is there somebody else on your mind?
I'm so sorry, I'm so confused
Just tell me, am I out of time?
Is your heart breaking?
How do you feel about me now?
I can't believe I let you walk away when
When I should have kissed you

I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should've, I should've, oh, I should have kissed you
I should have kissed you

Oh what a horrible situation to be in! The guy is totally in love but is too scared to tell her. People think she's too good for him but he knows how she really feels. He is kicking himself because he should have just told her. They were probably really close and their feelings for eachother made them draw apart.

A situation that is all to familiar. Why don't we say how we truly feel? :/

I feel it's about a guy who went on a date with a girl, and realized later "Aw nuts, I should've kissed her!!" He regrets not kissing her, and wonders if there's someone else or if he did something wrong.

It could be about a couple that never kissed and when the girl broke up with the guy the guy wished that they would've kissed "I should've kissed you"

    My Interpretation

Yeah, this is a terrible spot to be in, I know how he feels. I'll break it down by lines:

"I keep playing it inside my head All that you said to me"

He keep replaying what she said, maybe how she felt about him.

"I lie awake just to convince myself This wasn't just a dream"

This one sounds familiar, he's lying awake in bed, thinking "Was this a dream, did she really say that?"

"Because you were right here And I should've taken the chance But I got so scared And I lost the moment again"

"It's all that I can think about, oh You're all that I can think about"

He can only think about what she said and how she feels about him. She is all that he can think about.

This little part, both my friends and I can agree that this is where I screwed up. Anyways, she was right there and he could've done something but he got scared and "lost the moment again". That sucks, it really does.

"Is your heart taken? Is there somebody else on your mind? I'm so sorry, I'm so confused Just tell me, am I out of time?"

Now he's asking either her or himself; "Are you into someone else?" He's just confused and scared, and now he's wondering if his chances are gone now that she might be taken.

"Is your heart breaking? How do you feel about me now? I can't believe I let you walk away When, when I should have kissed you"

Now he's asking if she's heartbroken over him not making that move, he's wondering how she feels about him now. He now realizes, I should've kissed her.

    Chorus (Pretty self-explanatory)

"Every morning when I leave my house I always look for you, yeah."

I guess they live near each other and he looks for her every time he goes out, maybe to school.

"I see you every time I close my eyes What am I going to do?"

Sounds familiar, every time he closes his eyes he sees her now he's wondering "What am I gonna do about it?"

"And all my friends say That I'm punching over my weight But in your eyes I saw how you were looking at me"

Now for this part I'm gonna say what's happening to me in this situation. The girl I'm into is a senior, I'm a freshman. All my friends said that she's out of my league 'cause Senior+Freshman doesn't always work out. I'm "punching over my weight." But, at our school dance I finally gained the courage to dance with her and I found out I had a slight chance with her. "...in your eyes I saw how you were looking at me" Some of my favorite lines in the song.

"It's all that I can think about, oh You're all that I can think about"

This time, that dance was all that I could think about. She's still all that I can think about.

"Is your heart taken? Is there somebody else on your mind? I'm so sorry, I'm so confused Just tell me, am I out of time?

Is your heart breaking? How do you feel about me now? I can't believe I let you walk away When, when I should have kissed you"

Pretty much the same as above.

    Chorus

"When you stood there Just a heartbeat away When we were dancing And you looked up at me"

So close! Both Zayn and I were so to our girls, dancing with them when they looked up waiting for that kiss.

"If I had known then That I'd be feeling this way If I could replay I would have never let you go"

Damn, if I've known that I could've kissed her... If I only I could replay those moments, things would be different, "I would have never let you go."

"No, oh Never have let you go Am I out of time?"

If I knew how I felt I would have never let her go. Now, are we out of time?

    Chorus

Yeah, so basically he (and me) were so close to our girls, we were "a heartbeat" away when we dancing with them. However we didn't make the move and are lying awake thinking about it and asking ourselves "Am I outta time?" Guys, when you're so close to the special girl, make that move!

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
