What an amazing time
What a family
How did the years go by?
Now it's only me

Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
(La, la, la, la, la, la, la)

Like a cat in heat stuck in a moving car
A scary conversation
Shut my eyes, can't find the brake
What if they say that you're a climber?
Naturally I'm worried if I do it alone
Who really cares? 'Cause it's your life
You never know, it could be great
Take a chance 'cause you might grow
Oh, oh-oh

What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?

Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Tick-tock
Take a chance you stupid ho

Like an echo pedal, you're repeating yourself
You know it all by heart
Why are you standing in one place? (Uh-huh)
Born to blossom, bloom to perish
Your moment will run out 'cause of your sex chromosome
I know it's so messed up how our society all thinks (for sure)
Life is short, you're capable (uh-huh)
Oh, oh-oh

Look at your watch now
You're still a super hot female
You got your million dollar contract
And they're all waiting for your hot track

What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?

I can't wait to go
Back and do Japan
Get me lots of brand new fans
Osaka, Tokyo
You Harajuku girls
Damn, you've got some wicked style, go

Look at your watch now
You're still a super hot female
You got your million dollar contract
And they're all waiting for your hot track

What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting
What you waiting for?

What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
Take a chance you stupid ho

Take a chance you stupid ho
What you waiting for?
What you waiting for?
Take a chance you stupid ho
Take a chance you stupid ho

    Song Meaning

I cant believe that after reading all of these interpretations that nobody really knows what this song is about. Let me number them to express the meanings of the song clearly.

1.) this song is specifically about her doubts as a solo artist

2.) this song also mentions 'sex chromosome' meaning that for female artists, there time 'tick tock' is actually running out.

3.) She needed to make the album soon because her time was really running out as a 'hot female' and as an artist.

4.) Stupid ho represents her because thats what society sees her as( 'so messed up how our society all thinks' meaning that because she is a female she will always be seen as a ho.

5.) Also, I think that ho also represents her doubts about being a mother at 35 since her time is running out as a woman to bear children, she feels the pressure to be a hot artist but still be a mother to conform to society.

this song is good, not her best but still good none the less. I think it's about her becoming a solo artist after 10 years with a band who is like family to her,

Naturally I'm worried if I do it alone... Who really cares cause it's your life... You never know it could be great...

i love this song. it's pretty obvious it's about mainstream artists who are too scared to try something new.

I tend to like almost everything by No Doubt/Gwen Stefani..so of course I like this too. Its not as good as some of her other stuff though.. so is no doubt broken up or what? why is she making her own single?

the video is kind of cool it's this sort of alice in wonderland motif but i really thought her single would be better than this she is so much better with No Doubt she uses the same line from the song beauty contest " born to blossom, bloom to perish"

i think this is a great first single for gwen! it captures her eccentric personality and style, not to mention the great video. i think this is about her doubts concerning stepping out alone and having the pressure of the music business, her record company, and basically everyone. she IS a "super hot female" and all eyes are on her and her anticipated solo debut. in the music business anything can destroy you, it all depends on what mood society's in.

actually these lyrics are INCORRECT, i can understand why cause they we're posted before the official release of her cd and video. If you watch the video you can see the lyrics. It's only like one or two lines, i was just stating it. But i have a screenshot. [it's not too clear but none the less] img.photobucket.com/albums/v64/inmyhead1316/gwenwywf.jpg

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
