I had a cure, for your disease
But you threw it away
And you made it clear I was not welcome on these seas
And you threw it away

So I sailed and I sailed for so long
My hair grew long and my heart grew cold
I face certain death without you near

And I felt the storm and swam until the skies were clear
And I found a home along this crooked road

And all of this would have been
All of this could have been yours

All of this should have been
All of this could have been yours

Black clouds roll, right over red doors
As the waves were high
So was I
And the moon never looked so angry
As when your walls came crumbling down.

It was so beautiful
It was so peaceful

All the destruction, it was quiet

All of this would have been
All of this could have been yours

All that you love, will be carried away
Oh all that you love, will be carried away

All of my pain, that you put on my name
All of my doubt, and all of my shame

All of my guilt, my denial and fear
All of my hatred and all of my tears

All of the time that I couldnt go home
All of the times that I froze all alone

All of the sadness all of the lies
All of the shadows that blackened my eyes

All of the servants, who cheated, who stole
All of the colors from the depths of my soul

All of the wounded, that you left for dead
Now creep in the corner, they're all in my head

All of the dreams that you made nightmares
All of the silence, deafening stares

All of the ships who can't carry loads
You wrecked in anger, along distant shores

All of this would have been
All of this could have been yours

All of this should have been
All of this could have been yours.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
