The Lambeth Walk Lyrics
Any evening, any day,
You'll find us all
Doin' the Lambeth walk.
With her little Lambeth pal,
You'll find 'em all
Doin' the Lambeth walk.
Do as darn well pleasey,
Why don't you make your way there?
Go there, stay there,
Ev'ry evening, ev'ry day,
You'll find yourself
Doin' the Lambeth walk.

His is an English song from around the pubs. Dont remember it too well. But this Americanisation of the song just kills it. Can you imagine an old upright piano a few pints and the song about an area of London. What the Lambeth walk was I donot know. But the only verse I recall goes. Any evening any day, when youre down the Lambeth way, youll find us all, doing the Lambeth walk. Do what you damn well pleasey, go there stay there, any evening......I suspect it relates to the locals of the borough, and probably even a particular building. To be honest the American version doesnt sound atall cockney. Its far too slick and shiny. Be sure no self respecting Londoner would have anything to do with the American version. I cant imagine why they felt the need to jazz it up. It was a simple cockney song
