My back is against the wall
More bills than money to pay
But I know just who, just who to call on
When I need relief I pray to help me fight
The pressure, the pressures of the world
Hmm, the pressure
The pressure

The pressure
The pressure of the world, oh oh
Oh oh
Woah oh

Oh
Playin' on the tensions of your weakness and addictions
That lure your mind and strength
You can fight it, you can win
For your deliverance, just bow your head and pray

(To help me fight) The pressure (The pressure)
The pressure (The pressures of the world)
The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure (The pressure)
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world (The pressures of the world)

The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

Oh oh oh oh
Oh pressure

The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

My back is against the wall
More bills than money to pay
But I know just who, just who to call on
When I need relief I pray to help me fight

The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world (oh, the pressures of the world, the pressure)
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world (the pressures of the world)

The pressure
The pressure (oh the pressure)
The pressure, pressure of the world (of the world)
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

Playin' on the tensions of your weakness and addictions
That lure your mind and strength
You can fight it (fight it), you can win (fight it)
For your deliverance, just bow your head and pray to help me fight

The pressure
The pressure (oh yeah yeah yeah)
The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure (oh the pressure)
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world (the pressures of the world, oh the pressures)

The pressure

The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure
The pressure (oh the pressures of the world)
The pressure, pressure of the world

The pressures
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

The pressure, pressure of the world (pressures of the world)

I'm so down that I soon will be gone
With the pressures of the world, yeah yeah

The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

We all have our burdens to carry
I know when mine get too heavy
He's always there to bear the load
Give me strength and comfort any time I need relief
From the pressures of the world, I just believe

No doubt about it
Pressures of the world, oh yeah
Yeah eh eh eh eh, oh oh
Pressures of the world

I, I, I need relief
The pressure
The pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world (I need relief)

The pressure (I need relief)
The pressure (I need relief)
The pressure, pressure of the world (I, I, I, I, I, I need relief)

I, I, I, I, I need relief

I need re, I, I, I, I need relief

The pressure (I need relief)
Of the pressure (I need relief)
The pressure, pressure of the world (I need, I, I, I, I, I need relief)

The pressure (I need relief)
Of the pressure (I need relief)
The pressure, pressure of the world (I need, I, I, I, I, I need relief)

The pressure
Of the pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world
The pressure
Of the pressure
The pressure, pressure of the world

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.
