Whoa whoa ooohhh
Oohh yeah yeah
Whoa whoa ahh yeah
My ex-girlfriend ain't a friend of mine huh yeah
My ex-girlfriend ain't a friend of mine
Oh uh huh uh huh
Oh uh huh uh huh

I met this little shorty at the corner store
I snuck a peep as she came out the door
She was looking hot from her head to the floor
The kind of body make me want see more
With ice cream dripping down her wrist (down her wrist)
She licked it and missed, blew me a kiss
At first a brother tried to resist
But she did persist
And then it was on and popping, baby

[Chorus:]
My ex-girlfriend's best friend, been stressing, testing me
I shouldn't never beat it up
If she found out no doubt you've been
Blessing me, sexing me, look at the spot blown up
Now that we know do we just let go (ohh Yeah)
Or do we just turn back or try to pretend
We're nothing more than friends, it's too late for that
She used to be my girlfriend
I wish I woulda known then
Then I wouldn't have pushed up
When she rolled up shorty want to get swold up
She used to be my girlfriend
I wish I woulda known then
Then I wouldn't have much to lose
But now I'm starting all over again

Something about her seems so familiar
Like we met somewhere before
The way that she looked at me it's all coming back to me
I see it clearly now you got me bugging out
I was post up at the light now curtie through start it
Two short's and a baby Benz looking like they want it
One was her and one was you, what do I do she was shooting me vibes
And you was playing cute

[Chorus:]

I would've never tried to hit it
I would've never spent the time
I would've never tried to push up on her
Even though she was so fine
I would've never took her number
I would've never gave her mine
I should've known that you'd start trippin'
Thinking I knew it all the time

She used to be my girlfriend
I wish I woulda known then
Then I wouldn't have pushed up
When she rolled up shorty want to get swold up
She used to be my girlfriend
I wish I woulda known then
Then I wouldn't have much to lose
But now I'm starting all over again

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
