Psalm 27, Lord is my light, my salvation
Whom shall I fear? (Lord, forgive me for my sins)
(I ain't cryin', I ain't cryin') cause I have sinned
The Lord is the strength of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
And before I wrap up this Port of Miami (please Lord, please Lord)
(When the wicked, even my enemies and foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh)
There's a lot of my brothers and sisters (they stumbled and fell)
They wasn't here to watch this come to pass
(Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear)
And since I can't do shit else, I'mma say a prayer (Amen)
(Though war should rise, in this I shall be confident)
Amen

This was 12 years in the makin'
No side deals with Satan
I'm dealin' with the Maker (straight up)
A lot of homies ask 'What's a prayer?'
A prayer is what kept me focused 12 years, 12 years
A prayer is what saved me, I should've been indicted
Now my kids know Jay-Z (Shawn Carter)
A prayer is what kept me here, when them bullets cut the air
I fell and I just said a prayer
A prayer's like medicine
It'll heal wounds, aks Bush veterans aks
Big holes in a nigga side
Snub-nose .45, homeboy just close your eyes

Put your hands together, bow your heads
One, keep me alive
Two, keep me out the feds
Three, gotta bless the kids
Four, one for the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am
So, I repent my sins, forgive me
One, the grapes on the plate
Two, the tags on the feet
Three, the nights mama cried
Four, I'm thuggin' with the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am (Ross)

I swear to God I done some things in the past
If I could, please Lord, I'll help you bring 'em back
I feel pain mayn, 'cause I can't speak on it
That's why I got so many songs, I can't sleep homie (damn man, damn)
Tattoos for forgiveness (crosses)
I might not get it, but forgive me (losses)
I'm here and I'm fightin' like a motherfucker
Triple C's excited like a motherfucker (Triple C's)
Say a prayer, put the weed in the air
Thank God once again for makin' me a millionaire (amen, amen, amen)
I thank God for makin' me a millionaire (Ross)

Put your hands together, bow your heads
One, keep me alive
Two, keep me out the feds
Three, gotta bless the kids
Four, one for the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am
So, I repent my sins, forgive me
One, the grapes on the plate
Two, the tags on the feet
Three, the nights mama cried
Four, I'm thuggin' with the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am (Ross)

I used to get stacks off the hoe zone
Now back to back, covers for the Ozone JB
Made the magazine, Billboard goin' strong
Rollin' in the Phantom, with motherfuckin' Rolling Stones
You stuck with me through thick and thin
Sittin' back, got ya mama sittin' in a Benz (Lord)
Make you damn near wanna cry
Low 95, stack money like homicide
Blood shed after midnight
It's just me and this weed, tryna get right
Blood shed after midnight
It's just Ross and this kush tryna get right

Put your hands together, bow your heads
One, keep me alive
Two, keep me out the feds
Three, gotta bless the kids
Four, one for the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am
So, I repent my sins, forgive me
One, the grapes on the plate
Two, the tags on the feet
Three, the nights mama cried
Four, I'm thuggin' with the fam
Five, for the dividends
Dear Lord, here I am (Ross)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.
