Watch your back because the next man is coming
And you don't know if the next man is dumbin'
Survival of the fittest what it is
I got your back, you got my back, and that's the biz
Blood is rushing through my veins, I got the power
Channel the energy and with my strength I will devour
Sickenin thoughts is runnin' through my head
That's when I realized I'm glad I'm not dead

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

It was a dream and then it hit me
Reality struck, and now my life is all shifty
And it all moves, close to a buck 50
We all stand strong in respect to the family
In times of insanity
And through words of profanity
I describe our dysfunctional family
Blood brothers keep it real to the end
Deeper than the thoughts you think, not a trend

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

It's in our nature to destroy ourselves
It's in our nature to kill ourselves
It's in our nature to kill each other
It's out nature to kill, kill, kill

Again and again

Corruption and it grows
The salesman of our blood
For the public's craving
Existence in the dark

(Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill,)

I dont listen to papa roach at all, only like a couple of songs, but this song is amazing. Especially the lyrics. This song is very personal to me, I remember driving my car at high speed the night I broke up with my GF and listening to this song blasting from the stereo and that song expressed everything I was feeling at that time... it was incredible.

This song pretty much describes a betrayal by a friend or significant other that was very trusted. I listened to this song at least a thousand times to help me get over this girl that stabbed me in the back and is now dating a really close friend of mine. This had to be one of the best screw you songs ever. If you like it I reccommend Distirbed's 'The Game.'

    My Interpretation

I don't see anything in the song that specifically implies this is about a girl cheating on him. It's about being wronged by someone close (not specific) who expects to just go about life as normal afterward. The writer feels deeply betrayed whatever happened and finds this attitude outrageously offensive. While the is willing to forgive the person who wronged him, he explains that things can never again be quite the same between them. The chorus "Does it run in your blood to betray the ones you love?" suggests that abusing people close to him/her must be a part of his/her nature for them to brush it off so easily and think things can go back to the way they've always been. For that reason, I really don't think it's about a romantic relationship. At least for me, I have no interest in being with someone who cheats on me. That's the unforgivable sin of love. Lust is natural, but to give in to it means you have basically given up on the person you are in a romantic relationship with.

The message i get from this is pretty simple, someone has cheated in a relationship and this song is a rant at the cheater. Very good song.

What I think the song is about is that someone who is best friends with someone else for ages and know each other really personally when the second person just turns their back on the first guy.

The whole first verse is just telling the person that the should pay attention to what is going on around them; They can't just breeze through and hope to have things go thier way.

The second verse is saying that the first person (More than likely Shaddix) is trying to tell the second bloke that he is not going to be used when he is useful and disposed of when he isn't needed.

    Well; My thoughts anyway.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

American Town
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran shares a short story of reconnecting with an old flame on “American Town.” The track is about a holiday Ed Sheeran spends with his countrywoman who resides in America. The two are back together after a long period apart, and get around to enjoying a bunch of fun activities while rekindling the flames of their romance.
