[Queen Latifah]
Southside, Northside
Eastside, Westside
Alright, alright
Alright, we ride

Ain't the paper, that makes me daner
I just see the strangers they look at me stranger
They all give me more lip
So I give ya more music, more smackin'

I stepped up to salary cappin'
Passin' traffic and lookin' what happened
See how life takes a turn (uh huh)
More paper earned

Always poof, the case's adjourned
I am what I am, I come from North
So crème de la crème (uh yeah)
And specially when, ya pray for my downfall

That's why I try to stay from round why'all (let's go)
Till my days in the dark, they find me (let's go)
Like me the maids when I park and I'll be
Still, doin' me, still so beautifully
I ain't brushin' off haters nothin' true to me

[Chorus: Mario Winans]
Go and do your thing
'Cause people will talk
Baby it's the way
The way that you are
Keep your head up to the sky
Confidence high
They're the ones that hate you
'cause they're the ones who make you
Go and do your thing

Yo, yo, yo
Now just imagine how the world'll be witchu cruisin'
Sacked down, popped the blouse, get girls aroused
Popped out, shot the brows

Knocked the clothes and copped the house
Could it be that you feel you need me?
Huh, you love the way I flow 'cause it comes to easy
When life imitate artex where the hatin' start

You gotta love dat, try to stay good at
Who knew I'd come this far
Who is this woman, a movie star?
My moms always told me I come from God

And the stress that come from why'all keep taking
You be there keep waiting
Keep trying be patient
Why'all wish I can stand united
And really fall in love in hearts provided

[Chorus: Mario Winans]

Lately, it seems to me
That people ain't what they seem to be
They all want me torn up
I know there's snakes in the grass

So I pay my staff, to keep the lawns cut
I see all the drama you bringin'
I combine that with posit thinking
I'm me till I'm old and grey

When that day comes
I'm a teach my daughters do be the same way
I am the way I am, I'm from the hood
So crème de le crème

And specially when, ya pray for my downfall
That's why I try to stay from round why'all (that's why)
You never keep me down
So I'll always be around, forget about it

Still doin' it, (still doin me)
So beautifully I ain't brushin' off haters nothin' true to me

[Chorus: X 2]

[Ending: Mario Winans]
Just do your thing
'cause people gon' hate you anyway uh
Just do your thing
'cause people gonna hate you anyway uh
Just do your thing why'all see'mon
Can nobody stop me why'all see'mon
We Yellow City why'all
We gon' keep doin' our thing, keep doin' our thing

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
