Ah
What is reality? (I don't know) (reality)
Motherfuckers out here don't know shit (reality)
They ain't tryna know shit (reality) (nowhere to turn, nowhere to hide)
Just a young motherfucker out here tryna represent (reality, reality)
Get my motherfuckin' paper (nowhere to turn, nowhere to hide) (reality)
You don't think so? (Reality)
Well, then fuck out my way (nowhere to turn, nowhere to hide) (reality)
Because I'm ridin' on trucks, banks, all that type of shit (reality)
(My life crazy)
Gotta get paid, motherfucker (reality, reality)

Fuck dreamin' the same dreams, bein' down for the same team
What it seems to be reality is just a dream (dream)
Eye to eye, the colors that I wear is do or die
When I walk down the street, will I meet evil in disguise?
So (what?) I tote a .44 with hollow tips
While my mind tellin' me, "Should I not? Or should I pull it?" (Pull)
What I represent, God only knows what lies for myself (self)
Jealousy and hatred, niggas is out for my wealth
Will I perish? Livin' selfish for the rest of my life (yeah, yeah)
'Cause those who live wrong is bound to live a short life (that's right)
Will money be the root of my destruction?
Without the money, I can't even seem to function

Now there's nowhere for me to turn
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality

As complex as the situation gets
I remain, I maintain, ain't that much strain (to what?)
To make me twist myself like Kurt Cobain (ah)
Oh shit, I don't believe this
Some niggas that I fuck wit' tryna pull a twist (twist)
But ain't that much twistin' in existence (ayy)
And this is how you show love
It shows me exactly what money's capable of (reality) (that's right)
Now is it the expenses
That make you wanna catch me slippin' and pay a visit?
'Cause this is for all my homies (all my homies)
For jackers only (for jackers only), from Twist, to the fools in L.A. that know me
I'm back with a fifth of Henn'
Kurupt and Dat Nigga Daz on the mash again

Now there's nowhere for me to turn
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality)
Now there's nowhere for me to turn
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality, reality, reality)

I give it to you like it is, got no time for no games
In a world of madness, will my composure be the same? (ah)
Will my friends be around when they rest me in the ground?
A lost soul lost forever, never ever to be found (found)
Life ain't what it seems for the niggas full of schemes
On the hunt for a lil' cash, they wanna blast you for greed, huh
These sick bitches wanna get a nigga caught up
For what, a simple nut, a simple fuck?

Daily it enhances the penitentiary chances
To survive in 1995
So I got nineteen-ninety-five ways
To survive nowadays (nowadays)
Time and time again, I bust a rhyme again
'Cause I'ma get in deeper shit if I convert to crime again (stop)
Out to mentally convert me, the same niggas out to hurt me
It irks me, strenuous controversy
What's next on the list to complete
After all this shit that popped off on the streets?
And all eyes on me, but I won't change sides
'Cause what I represent I represent 'til I die ('til I die)
It's time for me to grab a tall glass of (Hennessey, Hennessey)

You see, my ways is to faze all them niggas that try me
Leave 'em layin' stiff if they ain't on IVs
I be's the hardest, regardless, fool
Livin' life, day and night, stayin' hard and cruel
Keep my cool, until my mood abruptly switch
Then I'm on a nigga's ass like bumpy zits (that's right)
It's no remorse when you cross my course
I'm not a hunter, but take a nigga out for sports
Don't resorts to thinkin' you could get with this (this)
Or you will be a eulogy if you insist to dismiss (diss)
The Tray Dee, from L-O-N-G
B-E-A-C-H, where the hardest gangsters be
Twenty-first was the worstest turf on the Earth
Yet I feel I was meant to represent from birth (goddamn)
'Til I die, you wonder why it ain't no secret
Motherfuckers best be in love with this G shit, yeah

Now there's nowhere for me to turn
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality) (what?)
(Blast these motherfuckas) (reality)
(Blast they ass)
There's nowhere for me to turn (all out fuckin' war)
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality) (oh)
Can't get away (reality), you can't get away
There's nowhere for me to turn (reality)
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality, reality
(Nowhere to hide)
Nowhere to go, nowhere to hide (reality)
Nowhere to hide (reality)
Nowhere to hide (reality)
There's nowhere to hide from reality (reality)
There's nowhere for me to turn
For me to turn (reality)
(Reality, reality) I can't hide from reality (reality)
(Reality, reality) hide from reality
I can't get away (reality)
I can't hide from reality (reality)
(Reality) can't hide from reality
There's nowhere for me to turn (reality)
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality)
Gotta get away, mm-mm
Gotta get away (reality)
Gotta get away (reality, reality, reality, reality)
I gots to hide
Gotta get away
Somebody help please, gotta get away (reality)
Somebody help me (reality)
Help me, help me (reality)
There's nowhere (reality)
There's nowhere for me to turn
No way to turn (reality)
Hide from reality (to turn, to turn, to turn)
(To hide, to hide, to turn)
(To hide, to turn, to turn)
(To hide, to hide, to turn)
To hide from reality
There's nowhere for me to turn
There's nowhere for me to hide from reality (reality)
We gotta escape
We gotta escape
We gotta get away (reality, reality, reality)
Mm, somebody, anybody
Let me get away, let me get away from reality
Gotta get away from reality (nowhere to run, nowhere to hide)
(Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run) cloggin' my mind, cloggin' my brain
I can't think, what's my name? (Nowhere to hide, nowhere to run)
Can't get away (reality)
(Biatch)
(Reality)
(Treymore)

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
