Ticket to Ride Lyrics
The girl that's driving me mad is going away, she is
She's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ride
She don't care
She would never be free when I was around, she ain't
She's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ride
She don't care
Ought think twice, ought to do right by me baby
Before she gets to saying goodbye
Ought think twice, she ought to do right by me, yeah
The girl that's driving me mad she's going away, oh
She's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ride
She don't care
She gotta think twice, she ought do right by me when she gets home
Before she gets to saying goodbye
She ought think twice, she ought do right by me
She said, she would never be free when I was here around, hey hey
She's got a ticket to ride
She's got a ticket to ride
She don't care
My baby don't care
My baby don't care

This is, of course, a Beatles song - but I liked the Vanilla Fudge version better way back then. Listening now to Beatles' "21 #1s" is surprisingly awesome - the remastering lets George's guitar be heard and it is spot on solid studio musician quality. John's guitar is always heard, despite... ok don't speak ill of the dead. The crisp harmonies, the added instruments and other George Martin ideas, it all comes through and there is lots to listen to. It has been three weeks since I found it for $10 - 21 Beatles #1 hits over just 6 or 7 years.
As for this song, his girlfriend doesn't like him much. Same theme as Day Tripper. John was insecure and angry and abusive with women, and they left him. Yoko got the upper hand, John met his match and in his mind that meant that he belonged to her. Not just "with her" but "TO her".
That is what I think this song reflects and portends
